Tiberium News and Community Updates

A lot of previews have been published recently regarding EA's upcoming First Person Shooter entitled "Tiberium" (and kinda-sorta in the C&C universe). Of note are ones by 1UP, GameSpy, IGN, and GameSpot. All give some basic info about the game. Most notable, perhaps, is the news that it will use the Unreal 3 game engine and debut in the spring of 2009.

Also, I want to commend the team at Red Alert: A Path Beyond for placing second in their category at the ModDb awards. It's a great honor for them.

Some recent items of note:
  • EA is looking for some experienced fans or modders to assist in the development of Tiberium, their upcoming first person shooter.

Server Migration

As you may have noticed, Generals World experienced some partial downtime this evening.  This is because our host is currently in the process of migrating our website to a newer server.  The process is not yet complete, so there is a chance we may experience more downtime over the next couple of days.

New C&C Videos

Two new C&C related videos have come out in the last few days.
  • The first trailer for Tiberum, the new C&C FPS, has been released by GameTrailers. Head here for it.
  • The fourth episode of C&C TV's Command School is out, with some new tactics for C&C 3, and a breakdown of the Brotherhood of Nod. You can get it at C&C TV.

C&C Tidbits

Not a lot major has happened recently, but here are some things you might be interested in:
  • CNCDen has a new C&C 3 map, based off the RA2 map "The Alamo" as well as a Worldbuilder script for map makers, four new Kane's Wrath wallpapers, and four other C&C 3 maps.
  • C&C 3 Game Champion Apollo offered some comments on the balancing of C&C 3:
    Looking at the overall factions and comparing prices I feel that Scrin is a currently balanced side along side of GDI where this is nothing that is too cheap, too expensive, too weak or too strong that makes that side unplayable or noticeable wrong in terms of balance. Both factions even play out as they were intended to do in design, one powerhouse faction (GDI) and one turtle faction (Scrin).

    On the other hand, looking at Nod I feel that there are flaws towards their late game and if they were cured the game would be on good balance levels without anything major which effects gameplay.

  • Blitzkrieg 2, a Zero Hour mod, has released two new videos of explosive effects from the mod.
  • There's a relevant job posting at EA's site about a new position in multiplayer oversight. They are looking for a person to "Lead up the construction of a new and innovative online service that will help to shape the next generation of games in the RTS genre." It's unknown if this is just corporate rhetoric or if they actually have big plans. The former Multiplayer Development Director, Chris Corry, was promoted to Executive Producer for C&C 3: Kane's Wrath.

CnC All Stars v1.2 Released

CnC All StarsOur in-house CnC All Stars mod has released its second patch, version 1.2! This release includes several bug fixes that add more polish to the mod, including some AI improvements.

Other notable changes include:
  • Rocketeers are now able to be targeted correctly by all anti-aircraft weapons
  • V3 Launcher missile damage, health, and speed were all increased
The patch also fixes a few graphical glitches in the mod. For those interested in all the details, a full change log is available as well.

CnC All Stars 1.2 is available for Zero Hour in 3 versions: a small patch for players who already have the mod installed, a full version that includes classic C&C music and international support, and a bare-bones "lite" version. You can download All Stars by following the link below to the mod's website.

Battlecast Primetime and Other News

  • The biggest news item recently has been the release of Battlecast Primetime Episode Five. It features an in-depth look at the GDI subfactions in Kane's Wrath, as well as at GDI's "epic" unit: the Marv, a huge triple-barreled Tiberium-eating behemoth. Get it at C&C TV.
  • The Shockwave mod team is looking for balance testers. The mod is for Zero Hour. Details here.
  • Project Perfect Mod has a new layout. Banshee has also updated their SHP Builder.
  • Cold War Crisis (ZH mod) has posted up a new features list for their release.
  • There's a Kane's Wrath FMV trailer (30 seconds long) available from Yahoo here.
  • PCNC has an interview with a few people from the Renegade 2007 mod for Unreal Tournament.
