Happy Thanksgiving

I have been rather busy this past week, but I would like to take a moment to wish all of our American visitors a happy Thanksgiving.  I'm certainly thankful for EA Pacific's great efforts in developing Generals and their continued support of fansites.  I'd also like to thank all of our loyal visitors like you, and those of you who have provided us with feedback and suggestions during these past few months.  Regular updates by myself will resume on Monday.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Unit and Structure Information

We would like to completely redo and rearrange our units and structures pages for CNC Generals with information from the Generals Multiplayer Test. However, none of our staff are in the test. (I at the time did not have a PC that met the test requirements.) Therefore, we are looking for some outside help. If there are any multiplayer testers out there that want to join the CNC Generals World staff and help out with our content pages, please contact me at MicScoTho@cncgeneralsworld.com.

New Poll

We have a new poll up! This time the question asks: If the Generals release date was pushed back even more, would you be angry? Place your vote on the right side of the page!

Just incase anyone was curious, the unit people liked the most in the last poll was the Aurora Strike Fighter. (I would post all of the results but we had some technical difficulties and they were lost.)

Surfin' the Community

Hey Everyone,

I've been surfin the community for news and stuff but their's been a pretty good lack of excitment. On that note, i've started a new thread in forum dedicated to posting news that interests you and I may put it up on the mainsite. With that said, here's what I've come up with in the community for today:

CnCWorld is 3 years old, to celebrate they have launched a contest, you could a copy of CNC Generals or many other cool prizes, so check them out!

There are some new screenshots over at CnCDEN, including a picture of a couple of great planes (up close). Click Here to check them out.

Adding to the blast of screenshots flooding the community, PC Gameworld has added
these.

Well, thats all I have time for today, but if you fing a post somewhere, or anywhere, tell us about it in the forums.

Atleast we know that the game will be quite polished. :)

More Info about Generals Release Date

This just in: It has been confirmed that Generals has been delayed. To when? We're not exactly sure at this time. According to Generals Xtreme, CNC Zone (currently down) posted this message:
I just got through with a email conversation with Delphi. It's official that Generals has been delayed again. However the date that is being posted around the community of Feb. 24 is not correct. The official date will be posted at the event tommorrow. So, until then all we know is that the release date has changed once again. But, like I said at the top, I'm sure it will be worth it.
Assuming this is true, we should find out tomorrow what the release day now is.

News Wrapup

Hope you're all ready for a really big news post.   Some of this news is a few days old, but it hasn't been posted yet, so here it goes:

All,

This morning I spent some time figuring out the final disk duplication count with Shanahan.

Reading the message board here, I see that some folk are interested in giving up their slots because they didn't get their copy yet. Apologies and thanks for the feedback. Sorry we didn't get the MP test version done in time. I really wanted to hold it a bit longer to get some extra bug fixing and polish time into it.

Those of you who would like to back out of the MP test, please leave a message here with your information and I'll have Shanahan take you off the list.

For each person that begs out of the test, we can assign a new person. I think we had 23k people sign up for the 3k slots so I'm sure there are many many folk would gladly accept a disk if asked.

We're going to start the duplication soon, so if you want out of the test, please respond quickly.

Apologies again for those of you who can't participate because we delayed. We'll try to do better next time!

Thanks and have fun,
Mark

  • There's a new Generals movie out!  It is a 27-minute long gameplay movie.  You can download it here.  There is also a 440 MB MPEG version available to download here.  Now there's one video we won't be adding to our site.   Also, CNC Universe has a synopsis of the movie.
  • Generals Bunker had a Q&A with Chris Rubyor.  Here it is:

Malc: Any reason for yours and Shanahan’s recent absence from the forum?
Chris: He's just been swamped with the MP test.
Malc: Probably won’t get a straight answer but any news on beta CD’s being dispatched?
Chris: Soon...
Malc: Will the beta servers be live as soon as people start getting the disks?
Chris: Yep!

  • Generals Delayed? There have been reports that Generals' release has been delayed again.  Doc from XRA2X emailed Chris Rubyor (Delphi) to confirm this.  Here's the response:

Doc: The German site, PC Games Online, claims that the final release date of Generals has been pushed back to February 24, 2003 - is this true?
Delphi: Nope, we'll have an official date by the end of this week.

It looks like the release date may be pushed back to February, maybe not February 24th.  However, EA Germany has supposedly confirmed this date.

  • And last but not least, a rather old news item.  Skryp00 from CNC Universe asked Chris this question:

skryp00: In night missions, will vehicles have lights? i see that the GLA buggy does...
Delphi: Some do.

Now, for those of you who actually read all that, congratulations.

GMPT Update

Here's the latest update from Shanahan on the Official Generals Website:
Ok..ok...so before your heads explode let me give you the quick answers first:
1. No
2. No
3. Yes
4. No
5. Yes
....Whew there, that's for the REALLY impatient folk, for those of you that are a bit more calm and collect:
1. Have the discs been mailed yet?
No, are getting very close to sending the discs out, we just have a couple more changes to make.
2. Can't you just send them out anyhow?
No, sending out a disc that didn't work would be like letting you sit in Ferrari, but not letting you drive it. Plus you would drool all over the upholstery and that's just gross.
3. Will we get the discs soon?
Yes, and if I could manipulate time you would of had them yesterday
4. Can I come sit in your office and watch you?
No, thats just plain creepy.
5. Will you let us know as soon as you send out the first batch of discs?
Yes, that will be the first thing I do before I sleep for 3 days straight.
Keep on waiting guys
