That's alright. We are always looking for help though. We can't stress the need for another skinner than we already have. We really would like to get another modeller and skinner to help out. If you don't do either of these but would still like to help out, head on over to the job openings page on the all-stars site at http://www.cncgeneralsworld.com/allstars/jobs.asp . Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, for all of you who don't know, Gmax is the main program you download and then as Krit mentioned, there is a plug-in made by westwood and EA called RenX. It gives you alot more options and tools that are used specifically for modelling and skinning and boning units that will eventually be placed into a game.

That it is. I must say, that gmax without renX is highly overwhelming. Gmax itself Is made for all aspects of Computer Aided Design. RenX just helps limit it to what you need for modelling units for Generals and Renegade and make the program less...overwhelming. That's a very good thing for me ๐Ÿ™‚

To be correct, Renegade only, Generals just use the same file type (W3D)

Yep. It's nice thought that it does both perfectly. That's why it's very easy to interchange renegade models and Generals Models. All you have to do is different coding and scale the whole thing a little bit. Poly count is tough to manage though.

I think he means take a Renegade model and use it in Generals.

I just meant that the poly limits for Renegade are MUCH higher than in Generals so when taking Renegade units and putting them into Generals, you massively have to cut down the polys and details on the model. I've done quite a few new models and we're seeing about putting up screens as soon as we can. Sorry that the updates have been slow everyone. We got kinda held up by a really important and huge decision that would determine the course of the mod. For now we are back to normal production etc, so we'll be getting updates out as soon as we can put some good material/screens together.

Alright everyone. We got up a screen of the Air Command Center today. We're hoping to get out some other things in the days to come. If you didn't see the new screen, head to our screens page at http://www.cncgeneralsworld.com/allstars/screenshots.asp .

I'm going to have fun skinning that one. A lot of flat surfaces. The Battle Lab is like skinning the interior decor in a skyscraer, and doing all 150 floors.

Hmm... I think you may want to lower it abit as some people who prefers airpower will be building quite alot of them...

It's 954 as a base model and has yet to be optimized. After optimization, I'd guess we'll have a 500-600 poly model. Possibly Lower. We'll have to wait to hear word from Commiedog on that one.
