Not trying to get the law involved in this one discussion-wise.
This forum does not condone the sharing of warez or pirated versions of software.
We don't want this forum to be like that, warez and pirating websites already do.

I'm not an admin, but I know how basic forum rules because I'm part of a lot of communities.

The patch can be found at multiple remaining C&C related sites so if it was a hack would it be on those sites? dont think so...

Info from fileplay: NathanCNC, with the help of other community members, has created an EPIC Patch 1.03 for The First Decade. This patch fixes many different bugs and adds a number of fixes to the game. Online play has been added to all of the classic titles such as Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert! You also no longer need the disc in the drive to play any of the games! This patch includes EA’s official Patch 1.01 and Patch 1.02. If you already have these installed, the patch will recognize it, and only add the necessary Patch 1.03 changes. From commandandconquer.com - "This patch is unofficial, we cannot help with any specific Patch 1.03 issues, you are download this at your own risk. However, the patch has been used my hundreds of C&C community members, each reporting no errors with any Patch 1.03 specific changes."

It just doesnt make sense to me that someone buys a new game while you can patch the previous edition with a community made patch which contains the official patches and a lot of bug fixes, all logic is thrown overboard in my humble opinion, with your logic you alo cant play mods such as Rise of the Reds or Contra because those mods also edited the original files...
And when it comes to EA and their wonderfull support to the community i say FU EA, they killed the freakin franchise ffs, they teased us with gens 2 and aborted it ffs, here is a reminder of the stuff they canceled, once again i say FU EA...

The patch may be fine, I'm not saying the whole patch is a back or illegal, I'm saying the bit which allows you to play without the disk is the hack. I could call a mod a patch but it would still be a mod. (In fact the patches for zh were just mods). Since Windows removed the driver that was used with lots of games in the mid 00s the only 2 ways to run the game is with a no CD hack (contained in the aforementioned 'patch') or by installing the driver (something that I doubt a community patch would actually do).

Klingon you are making it way too complicated, a lot of people use this and i think you are one of a few who bought a new game when this problem occured...

Sometimes you gotta say "What the F#ck", make your move. Every now and then, saying "What the F#ck", brings freedom. Freedom brings opportunity, opportunity makes your future.

So your game doesnt work and you have to use a "hack". What the F#ck. EA isnt going to help you and buying a new game while it can be fixed with a community patch is just silly and a waste of your money, EA already got your money once why give it again?...What The F#ck, if you cant say it you cant do it...:P

I didn't buy the game again when the problem occured, I bought the game 2 years later. Plus when I bought the ultimate collection I got it for half the price I paid for generals alone. Finally some people won't have the first decade so they can't use the first decade patch (which includes the hack) so they either have to get a back of a website (I'm not giving any exapmles) or LEGALLY get the games on origin. If you have a LEGAL way of getting the games to run then post it else I think we've ruined this topic enough and any further retort you have, I will not reply to.
