Hi all, just thought I'd let you know about a new multiplayer network I've created for playing Generals and Zero Hour online called GameRanger.

Basically, GameRanger makes it quick and easy to play your friends online.

It has full lobby support for over 500 different games and demos (including the CnC games, of course), without the hassles and headaches that usually happen with network connections (eg. routers & firewalls).

I'm really excited to be releasing it, and hope it helps boost the CnC community by allowing people to play that were unable to until now due to problems with opening ports, etc.

You can download it at www.GameRanger.com

Well, it was just released today, so that would be a little unfair. :)

It will be the main problem though. Players dont use it because there are too little people to play against.

Definitely, it's a Catch-22 situation. I'm hoping people give it a try to see how much better it can be, and then momentum will gradually build up.

Aye best of luck. I hope it does catch on (no pun intended) as EA's servers aren't typically the best >_> (ie: not supporting certain routers and wireless devices)

My friend and I couldn't connect for a skirmish network game on C&C 3 after shutting down firewalls, various troubleshooting, etc. I gave Game ranger a try and it worked flawlessly. It was shockingly quick and easy to set up an account and start a game up with no problems. There was only about 150 or so users on at the time so it may not be the best spot to go for random games just yet. However, it was a great way to circumvent the EA interface.

That's great to hear, Custer. The best thing you can to is encourage as many of your friends as you can to start using GameRanger.

MicScoTho and I couldn't connect via EA's servers (no clue why) today so we decided to give GameRanger a shot. Despite my computer taking ~3 minutes to acknowledge that GameRanger wanted to open RedAlert 3 (I blame my PC, it's growing old), we played a flawless game. And I lost as usual :)

there's no support for it on their site probably because GGClient already takes care of this. I dunno, you'd have to ask the big man himself :)

Will I be able to play someone who is running Generals on a Mac if I am running Generals on a PC?

Also is there any issues if we are both on the same wireless network?
