Hey all,

I'm here because I'm encountering a critical error in Generals and Zero Hour. I've read through the posts and there doesn't seem t be one that covers this topic specifically. The issue I'm having is that when I'm playing Generals suddenly it will close out and give me the following message:

"Command and Conquer Generals has encountered a serious error and has to close. Serious errors are often caused by viruses, system updates, overheated hardware, or hardware not meeting minimum requirements. If you encounter further problems please visit the forums at www.generals.ea.com or check your game manual for Technical Support information."

I have:
3GHz Pentium 4
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon X850 Pro AGP

Nothing is overclocked and I went to EA's forums; I got one piece of advice and that was to check this forum. So here I am! Any help would be most appreciated!

Post the contents of: [My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\ReleaseCrashInfo.txt] here, and we might be able to spot your problem.

Is this happening only on a specific map or does it happen in evey game?

It happens in every game I play. Single player skirmish, challenge, or campaign. It varies in length though; sometimes it happens 3 minutes in and sometimes it happens just before the end of a game. I can't figure out a pattern here. I have no mods and nothing is overclocked. I tried to get updates for the game but there isn't anythign for Generals so that didn't help.

I get this error too somtimes, with no real pattern as to why. Sometimes during a game, and my son says he's had it happen to him on the introduction movie. I would love to know the cause of this.

Well, I don't really care where it is, we just have a problem that needs to be fixed.

This is just one of those ones that's hard to figure out, since there isn't any real lead apart from "erroring out". Have you tried updating the game?

I got all the official updates for TFD but none of them applied to either of the Generals games.

This first line tells what is wrong > Reason Uncaught Exception in GameEngine::update

It's the game , its's nothing wrong with your PC.

in ZH 1.0 is known to be practically unplayable ,these errors were very often , but it seems that ZH patch 1.4 fixed almost all of bugs that caused to crash -

BUT if you have TFD ZH which is already patched to 1.4 , THAT is a whole different story ; but I don't have TFD so i can't help here.

Hi guys nice to know i am not the only one with these issues.
I am also having similar issues and have tried several things..
I either get a Blue screen error, hard reboot, OR the above error.

In the interest of trying to nail down this issue i am providing my hardware information hopefully we can narrow the issue or nail down some similarity or something?

Windows XP Pro
Asus A8N32-SLI
AMD Opteron 185
2 - Gig Memory 1GB Matched Corsair - 1GB Matched Mushkin
2 - EVGA 6800 GS in SLI
1- Samsung DVD Burner
2- Internal Hard drives via SATA
1- Eternal Hard Drive via USB
2- 120mm Case fans
1- 120mm Blue Orb Cpu fan

all patches and drivers updated to the latest versions. My pc is running cool with cpu temps running around 40deg celsius.

I have tried disabling SLI, running the program in windows 98 mode, I also ran the AMD dual core optimizer, all with no success. I usually can get the program to launch but while playing it will jump out with either a hard reboot, blue screen, or the above mentioned error.

all other games work perfectly... half life, Battlefield 2, LOTR online, ect.

anything else i can try?
