To all Generals World Forums members:

Generals World will be migrating our forums to new software this weekend. The expected date of conversion is this Saturday, April 7, 2007 Wednesday, April 11, 2007. All forum members, topics and posts will be automatically migrated over to the new forum software. Hopefully this transition will be as smooth as possible.

There are however some important pieces of information to be aware of:

As part of the conversion process, all member passwords will have to be reset. When the forum conversion has taken place, forum members will receive an email at the address provided to Generals World when you signed up for these forums. This email will contain a new, temporary password for you to use when logging in to the newly converted forums. Once logged in, you will be free to change this password to whatever you'd like.

As such, all forum members should ensure that the email address on file with Generals World Forums is their active and valid address. When the conversion takes place, if the email address you have on file with the Generals World Forums is not a valid and active email address, you WILL NOT be able to receive your new password for the forums and we WILL NOT be able to provide you with this password, except under certain extraordinary circumstances.

To ensure that the email address on file with Generals World is valid, please click the My Profile link from within the Members drop down list in the forum navigation bar.

Also, please note that all Private Messages will be lost during the conversion process. If you have any messages you would like to save, please save their contents locally on your computer before Saturday 4/7.

If anyone has any questions or concerns about the conversion process, please post in this topic or email me at MicScoTho@cncgeneralsworld.com.

Thanks for your cooperation as we seek to make this migration as smooth as possible.

There seems to be no direct way to do this.

If any of you would like to save your PMs but are unsure how, follow these steps:
1) open a text processor; *MS Word seems best
2) open the PM you want to save
3) highlight left to right, starting at "FROM" down to "CNC Generals World :: Forums"
4) copy (CTRL+C)
5) switch to the new document (ALT+Tab)
6) paste (CTRL+V
7) repeat as needed

*MS Word has the advantage of completely retaining the formatting, whereas programs like notepad/wordpad may need some altering. Note that it will not copy the avatar.

In case you haven't noticed the bold bright yellow text below the header on every page in the forums, the Forum Migration has been moved to April 11th (this Wednesday). Smile

According to MicScoTho, yes. Well, that's if the code is transferred over correctly...there were some problems with something about transferring the contents of people's posts, so that's why it was pushed back.

Users have already been transferred, and, yes, post count should be working.

Forum migration is currently on hold indefinitely while we work out some technical issues. I want to make sure the transition goes smoothly, without resulting in gobbledygook posts.

Carry on using the forums as usual. :)
