Are there any good ones you know of? I saw two today called Joint Task Force and Fight for something, I can't remember the name exactly but they both looked pretty good. Thoughts? Edited by user Thursday, February 1, 2007 6:37:46 PM(UTC)

i play rise of nations (with expansion pack, thrones and patriots), but its kinda old (rise of legends is newest game in the series), yet still good. i think rise of nations got the strategy game of the year in 2003 or something like that. its a little different in the fact that you have to collect 6 different resources (food, metal, timber, oil, wealth, and knowledge), everythings on a larger scale (you control a whole country and make cities rather than just a battle in Zero hour), and you right-click to do actions instead of left-click in zero hour.
age of empires III (with expansion pack) is good too as its made by the same people that made rise of nations. however, i lost my cds for age of empires III and i cant install it on my new computer..:(

I was kind of intending modern day RTS games. (Terrorism, etc)
And btw, I wouldn't say RoN is anything like Generals.

I was kind of hoping for a modern day RTS, Luckie.
Has anyone tried Joint Force Task yet, or War on Terrorism? Are they good?

Nope. I am about to try Act of War. I just got it about a day ago and will be installing it soon. I hear it is really awesome. |

I hate rise of nations, it is just so boring after a while.
act of war looks very good, I tryed the demo and it quite hard, I think CnC is a very unique style and I haven't found another game that I liked as much as CnC RA2 or genrals.
p.s. have you tried modding you game to make it more playerble? that is a great and free way of getting more out of your game |

Couldn't agree more... It's hardly an RTS, as you can only really pursue one strategy.

I tried playing joint task force. It completly screwed up when I started it. It makes the screen messed up. Its too bad. It sounded like a really cool game. |

I'd recommend frontline:feilds of thunder. I haven't played it but I'm going to buy it. Its just like generals, with the same big overveiw screen, only its basd on the battle of kursk. |

How can it be barely two weeks old when this topic was last posted on March (03/21) and you posted on May (05/12)? Unless April is less then a week long. Also, any topic that has a new reply to it will automatically be marked as an active topic, so the reason you saw this as an active topic was simply because you posted a comment in this topic, therefore bumping it into active status. |
