I don't know if i should be posting this in generals or mods,

however my question is that i have a monitor that is 1920 X 1200
and i would like to play @ that resolution is possible.

Also, if there is a mod that makes it so you can see more of the
field @ one im would b cool.

Any ideas? or does anyone know how i would get this to work?

thanks in advance guys/gals!!!

Well, I don't know much about the resolution.

But about the mod which will help you see more of the map..
The game is optimized for its exact highest height and lowest height, trying to increase the view height will most likely result in graphical corruption.
However, if you edit a specific line in one of the INI files you'll be able to see from a greater height. I don't remember exactly which INI file it is. INI files are stored in the INI.big file and can be extracted from it with a program called FinalBIG, search the forums or google for it.

As for the resolution, there might be a trick for that, not sure. But why should you? The max resolution of the game is enough I believe.

I believe that the camera height parameters are set in GameData.ini.

ooops im sorry about that. i guess this is what newbs do when they dont know what to do, ill be sure not to do it again. Thanks for the tips thus far.

Its a little bothersome though when the sides of the screen get chopped off cuz of resolution thingy, You'd think with the newer games nowadays they'd offer it as an option but maybe its related to something more basic, like how the coding or the programming will work.

hehe! any advice is appreciatted :)

about the resolution however i just wanna utilize the entire screen and if possible wanna see them before they see me, eeer but thats sorta dumb since its the computer afterall hehe.

Go into the Options.ini. You can change the resolution there. There should be a line that says:

"Resolution = 1600 1200" (Or whatever you had it on before.) Change that to "Resolution = 1920 1200"

The only thing is if you go back into the options inside the game and hit accept, it will lower the resolution back down. Avoid this and it will stay there until you change it again.

To find it, go here:
C:\Documents and Settings\(Your name.)\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Options.ini

tried it and it worked but not like i imagined.
It just takes the same image and streches it out so everything looks wider and shorter relatively.
I guess thats why there are only 3 options for resolution.

or maybe they want to acheieve parity in online gaming so one person doesnt have a larger screen
in the sense they can see more of the map @ one time.

Yeah, you have a point there.
Though the change between the different resolutions is fairly small in field viewing wise.
They also limited it to 800x600 for the quick match back at the begining for some reason.
