Hi,

is it possible to play Kane's Wrath on a LAN.

2 separate Steam versions, on 2 separate account.

And of course 2 separate computers on the same Local Area Network.

Any help and advice on doing this would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance.

Your problem is most likely due to game binding itself to a wrong network adapter, as it often does in case with hamachi or even over local network. There is an error in the game network setting both in TW and KW where it binds itself to the first available adapter instead of the one you need.

Even if you then ask the game to bind to a different address by selecting Main Menu/settings/network and choosing another address it still remains on the one that it had chosen when it was launched.

To solve the problem you need to download network monitoring tool cports.exe

http://www.nirsoft.net/u...ports.html#DownloadLinks

launch the game and the tool, go into LAN lobby in the game.

Alt+Tab into the tool, refresh and check the IP address and the port that it is listening on.
If both computers are not listening on the same network, you have to make the game change its adapter preference by one of the 2 possible ways:

1) The game actually chooses IP adapter address that has the lowest numeric value out of all available adapters. So you can force the game to use the right adapter by manually assigning the right IP address on your local areanetwork adapter if you have any control over it. Ideally it should be like: 1.xxx.xxx.xxx

This is very easy to do in case of hamachi, simply right-click hamachi network adapter in the relevant window in control panel, go to properties and type-in any manual IP address starting with "1". Any of your mates should do the same, the game would work with no issue then..

2) If the above didnt work/not possilbe there is a crude method:

Close the game.

Go to: Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center/Change Adapter settings

Disable EVERY network adapter except the one the game needs to communicate through, even if other adapters are responsible for internet or other communication.

Launch the game, go into network lobbly.

Alt+Tab to Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center/Change Adapter settings

Re-enable every adapter that you have disabled.

Unfortunately you will have to do it every time before you start a new network game, as it will reset the adapter each time you enter multiplayer lobby even between the matches.
