hello, im new to this forum. i, like many others remember the old days of c&c so very well and still wonder why new c&c's have forsaken the original concepts.
if anybody has had this experience as i have then i feel very sorry for you:-
PLAY STATION I, red alert. you would build up a "horde" and rush the enemy or the enemy rushes you. as soon as those little tanks start rolling the game "stutters" (stops for a second then plays for a second).
i have never had this experience with my high end pc. even the original C&c runs fine on this machine (somehow).
OS Windows 7 Home x64 & Windows XP Pro x86 CPU AMD Phenom II 1100T x6. Motherboard Asus Crosshair IV Formula. Memory Corsair Vengeance 4x 4gb 1600mhz. Graphics Card XFX Radeon HD 6970. Sound Card Onboard 7.1 Creative X-FI. Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic 27" Wide-Screen (16:9). Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080. Hard Drives 2x WD 20EARS 2TB SataII.
is there a way to fix it?
thank you for your time and patience

This forum is for the mod, The Red Alert, not the Playstation version of the original. |

TRA gameplay stutters heavily after about 30 mins of heavy play. is this a common issue. thank you for your time and patience.

i believe i have discovered the issue. the game map was flooded with 200+vehicles and 100(ish) buildings. game started to stop and start. i destroyed all enemy vehicles and structures with the exception of 3 structures and a handful of vehicles. i roughly the same amount of buildings and vehicles before and after. Game still Stuttered badly. As soon as i destroyed a single MCV trapped against a cliff face the game started running properly. Is it possible that there is a glitch that makes vehicles either travel to or spawn at the wrong place creating a loop of sorts? i tried this twice. it started running correctly Immediately after the offending MCV is destroyed. File Attachment(s): MCV.jpg (873kb) downloaded 10 time(s).

Which map is this?
But yes, if you have hundreds of vehicles and your computer can't keep up with that many objects, it will lag. |

1st instance of the glitch was during this map 'Island Dissent [TRA]'
2nd instance of the glitch was during this map 'loch mess' featured in the Collectors Edition map-pack DLC.
I have discovered that it is nothing to do with the number of units as if i destroy the offending MCV with the hundreds of units in play the game resumes smoothly.
thank you for the response. :-)
