Hi.. I'm Natalie, from Malaysia.. I'm new with the Red Alert 3 World Builder and I had read through much of the World Builder Tutorials on CnC Labs.. All the tutorials are teaching us how to create a new map.. and I'm interesting in putting some units in the map while I'm creating a new map, so that I'll get free units in the starting game. I'm having problems with my units.. I can't understand why I CAN'T control those units in the game, I CAN'T even force them to move. In the World Builder, I selected four Multigunner IFVs, four Attack Dogs, and two Engineers from the "Place Object (P)" selection. In the game, I was in Blue, but those units were in White, those units should be in Blue if I'm not mistaken. I just placed them on the map in the World Builder, and I didn't do anythings on those units like write coding, put ally points, etc, I just placed them how I placed those buildings. Those units I bought from War Factory and Boot Camp in the game are able to move and able to comment them, but those units that I placed in the World Builder aren't able to move and comment. I keep creating a new map, but I still get the same result. Does anyone knows where my mistakes are or can anyone tells me how should I do so that I can use those units? Thanks!

Hi Natalie. Welcome to the forums. Firstly, make sure that you have added skirmish players to your map, as shown in the tutorial. Then when you place a unit for use by a player, say a Tank, for example: If the colour is white, it usually means that the unit is neutral, has no owner. So you must give your unit an owner by changing the object properties: So that the game knows which player can use and control it. Take care adding tech buildings this way, you may not have sufficient power to operate them when the game starts. Save your map and load up in-game to test. Of course, a neutral vehicle or tech building can usually be captured in the normal way by sending along an engineer. HTH |

Oops! Actually, I changed those units to "neutral" in the Object Properties.. I still remembered it was "Allied" and I don't remember why I changed it to "neutral".. Haha.. Very funny.. ==
In the RA3 World Builder, can I create somethings like "not allowing players to buy any units" or "not allowing players to buy any structures"? I mean lock the structures or units like in the Campaign mode, so they can't click on it, makes them unable to buy or get the structures and units in the Skirmish mode. I heard my brother said that this can be done in the CnC General World Builder, so I'm interesting in RA3.. :)
By the way, thanks for the information.. And one more question.. Do you have any ideas with the "Red Alert 3 Map Generator"? I get the Map Generator software from "http://www.cncnz.com/downloads/redalert3/utilities/".. This Map Generator seems more harder to create new map than the World Builder. Thanks.

Yes it is possible to do that in RA3 too using scripts. Natalie Ooi wrote: By the way, thanks for the information.. And one more question.. Do you have any ideas with the "Red Alert 3 Map Generator"? The Map Generator software is also available to download from our site: Here and it works very well. It will generate a basic map for you, but you still need to do the work to tweak your Resources and add Buildings, Trees and Flora, perhaps Cliff and Wall objects and complete any texturing work. You still need to add to the map, but the Generator will give you a good start, with a basic layout. It does not really produce a "ready-to-play" map. HTH |

The units will be owned and controlled by the same player, as soon as you start the game. |

I followed what you'd told me.. Set the "Team" in the Object Properties, and the units will be mine.. But nothings happened.. Scripting really hard.. ==

It is not needed to make the unit belong to a player. If you change the parameter I showed you earlier in the Object Properties, when you add the unit into your map using WorldBuilder, so that the unit belongs to Player 1. Then go into the game, load your map and make yourself as Player 1.. the unit will be yours to move and control, instantly, without the need to build or buy it. There is no external script needed to do this |

I have a similar problem... When I select an object and go to the object properties menu, I click on teams and none of the options include 'Player 1' or anything similar, however there a options like 'PlyrJapan/teamPlyrJapan' and 'PlyrCivilian/teamPlyrCivillian'.
And another problem is when I play the map, none of the textures show up except for the ones on the model/objects, and is all black, aso I can't see the terrain.

Check that you have added Skirmish Players (Edit ->Edit Player List-> Add Skirmish Players)Jasper77 wrote:And another problem is when I play the map, none of the textures show up except for the ones on the model/objects, and is all black, aso I can't see the terrain. Have you added the latest Red Alert 3 patch? (1.12) - if you have, then check your graphics settings in game.. you may need to experiment a little with them. |
