Case's Ladder News:

As previously announced, the Official Command & Conquer Generals Ladder has been reset, and is once again open for play. The only change to the Ladder system “post” Patch 1.6, is that you are now required to visit http://www.igl.net/generals to register your player name before playing Ladder matches via the in-game Quick Match system.

Also, a new User Interface Mod by Invectory Games is being developed; the mod will change all of the game's toolbars, buttons and the in-game command bar. It's even not editing any INI files so you can play online with it without any problems. You can see pictures of that mod in here. And check the info on that mod in here.
