Milestones in the CnC communities
Posted by Renaissanceat 5:56 PM
CnCSource has successfully changed servers to increase speeds for lower end modems. As well they are adding to their C&C3 gallery. Head on over and check it out.
Also, the Cold War Crisis website is celebrating 100,000 hits. This just goes to show that the Generals communities are still alive and kicking.
Good work guys.

New Poll, Poll Results, and EA in court?
Posted by Blbpawsat 2:59 AM
Here are the results from last week's poll:
| Do you still play Renegade? | |
| Yes | 14 |
| No | 35 |
Total Votes: 49 | |
Thanks to all 49 of you who voted!
Since I have the chance, I might as well update ya'll on the recent happenings in the community:
- Related to this week's poll question, a person named "EA Spouse" has posted an article about her and her husbands experience with EA.
Our adventures with Electronic Arts began less than a year ago. The small game studio that my partner worked for collapsed as a result of foul play on the part of a big publisher -- another common story. Electronic Arts offered a job, the salary was right and the benefits were good, so my SO took it. I remember that they asked him in one of the interviews: "how do you feel about working long hours?" It's just a part of the game industry -- few studios can avoid a crunch as deadlines loom, so we thought nothing of it. When asked for specifics about what "working long hours" meant, the interviewers coughed and glossed on to the next question; now we know why.
I've read the article, and she makes some good points. Also, word is leaking out that EA is being sued in a class action lawsuit for similar offenses. Get the article here. - CNC Den has new maps, as always.
- CNCNZ is asking for new staff members. If you think you can help out, send 'em an e-mail!

Generals Real Threat Hotfix Released
Posted by CommieDogat 11:40 PM
After receiving several error reports concerning the B-2 Sortie added to Colonel Burton in Real Threat, I investigated the issue. I have since identified the piece of code that causes the problem. Thus, I have released a hotfix to the issue for standard Generals players that should allow them to use the B-2 Sortie properly. Follow this link to the forum topic with the hotfix available for download: http://www.cncgeneralsworld.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4605
Note: This hotfix is for NORMAL GENERALS ONLY. IT WILL NOT WORK FOR ZERO HOUR. This issue has already been addressed in the Zero Hour port and does not need the hotfix for the B-2 Sortie to function properly.

This latest version features numerous bug fixes for the AIs for Generals that have already been modified, as well as new modifications for four Generals. You can download the latest version of the mod here.
Currently, the following "Hard" difficulty level skirmish AI Generals have been modified by the Advanced AI Mod to be more challenging:
- USA Air Force
- USA Super Weapons
- GLA Demolition
- China Nuclear
- China Infantry
- China Tank
- USA Laser
- GLA Stealth
- GLA Toxin
Generals at the top of the list perform best.
The Advanced AI Mod is nearing its final stages of development for within the foreseeable future, as the author, Lion, will soon be moving on to other endeavors.
If you have any questions, comments, or bug reports related to the mod, then be sure to post them in the Advanced AI Mod Support Forum.

Community Roundup
Posted by Blbpawsat 7:39 PM
Current News:
- CNC DEN has new maps, as always, as well as a "Art of Defense" mission.
- Planet CNC has updates on a number of Renegade mods, as well as news that the
mod An Act of War has moved to Derelict Studios saying:
An Act of War has enjoyed almost a year of GREAT hosting at PlanetCNC, but it's time to move. PlanetCNC took An Act of War in back when it was a tiny mod with just a few team members. Under PlanetCNC, An Act of War grew in quality and size, eventually becoming a total conversion and reaching our first release. Along the way, Dario and various other staff members have shown a great interest in An Act of War, offering ideas, help with the site, PR, and even personally bug testing! In fact, the reason we're leaving has nothing to do with hosting at all. Derelict Studios has offered us a unique working environment for mod creators that they're trying out, and I'd like for us to be a part of that. And so, it's time for us to say goodbye. As team leader of An Act of War, I'd like to thank you guys for the great hosting, support, and overall friendliness shown during our time here!
- Right here at GW, All-Stars has reached the internal Alpha stage. This means it will be much easier to get screenshots and more PR goodies for the fans. Also, will we be needed Beta testers when we reach that stage? Stay tuned...;)
A Rant and a New Poll
Posted by Blbpawsat 7:12 PM
"I really am disppointed by the number of votes we're getting on these polls. I usually have the polls up for at least a week, and if we get 31 votes, that's barely 4 votes a day. If you visit the front page of GW, check out the poll question. They're all related to CNC or GW, and I aim for them to have some sort of conclusion that can be drawn. Please, just give it a try; it's not that hard and it will help the site. Plus, it's a space where you fans can let your voices be heard!"
On to the results from last week:
| CNC 3 info has been silent for a while...This means: | |
| EA IS WORKING ON IT! XMAS 2004! | 4 |
| It's being worked on, but it won't be a priority till after BFME is released and patched. | 17 |
| It's never coming out... | 10 |
Total Votes: 31 | |
Thanks to all 31 of you who voted! Also, be sure to send your poll question ideas to Blbpaws@cncgeneralsworld.com.
