Welcome to the Chinese Generals page for Zero Hour, the expansion to Electronic Art's real-time strategy game CnC Generals! This page lists and describes the three Chinese Generals and the units, structures, upgrades, and powers that are unique to them. Ta Hun Kwai
Tank General
 

General Kwai is the Chinese People's Liberation Army's biggest tank advocate. Trained in the Soviet tank tactics of the Cold War era, General Kwai has proposed and developed many modifications to the standard Chinese tank arsenal. He has reduced production costs for many tanks and even initiated new tank programs, one byproduct of which is the fearsome Emperor Overlord tank.
  • All tanks start at veteran level.
  • Tanks cost less to produce, but the time it takes to construct them has not been changed.
  • Aircraft are more expensive to build.
  • The Nuke Cannon and Inferno Cannon are both unavailable.

» Units:
Emperor Overlord
The Emperor Overlord tank is basically a suped-up version of the regular Overlord. It automatically comes with the Propaganda Tower upgrade when it is built. It can then be upgraded to have a Gattling Cannon, but it cannot be upgraded to have a bunker, like regular Overlords can. The Emperor Overlord also reloads faster than the regular Overlord and starts at veteran level. The Emperor Overlord replaces the regular Overlord for this General.

Gattling Cannon
Cost: $1200
Purchase At: Individual Unit
The Gattling Cannon upgrade builds a Gattling Cannon, very effective against infantry and aircraft, on the Overlord tank. This upgrade is on a per-unit basis.

Autoloader
Cost: $2500
Purchase At: Propaganda Center
The Autoloader upgrade increases the Battle Master tank's rate of fire. The upgrade makes all Battle Masters fire three shells before reloading.

  • Gattling Tank: Cost reduced to $700 (normally $800)
  • Dragon Tank: Cost reduced to $700 (normally $800)
  • Listening Outpost: Cost increased to $950 (normally $800)
  • Helix: Cost increased to $2000 (normally $1500)
  • Mig: Cost increased to $1600 (normally $1200)
  • Red Guard: Cost increased to $375 (normally $300)
  • Tank Hunter: Cost increased to $375 (normally $300)
  • Hacker: Cost increased to $780 (normally $625)
  • Black Lotus: Cost increased to $1875 (normally $1500)
  • Neutron Shells Upgrade: Removed, since the Nuke Cannon is unavailable
  • Artillery Training: Removed - replaced with Battle Master Training (see below)
  • Emergency Repair: Level 1 is available as a 1 Star General. Level 2 and level 3 are available as a 3 Star General.
  • Cash Hack: Ability removed
  • Carpet Bombing: Requires a 5 Star General level


» General's Powers:
Battle Master Training
Rank Required: 1 Star General
The Battle Master Training power gives all Battle Masters the Elite level of veterancy. This power replaces the Artillery Training power.
 

Tank Drop
When used, this power calls in an aircraft to drop of a certain number of Battle Master tanks to the specified battlefield location. The number of tanks that are dropped off depends on the level of the Tank Drop power.

Tsing Shi Tao
Nuclear General
 

The impatient General Tao is determined to get what he wants, whatever the cost. Nuclear weapons are an essential part of his tactical strategy. While there have been accidents as a result of his excessive use of nukes, this General feels that such errors are simply part of the development process. He has successfully pioneered several new technologies including the creation of advanced nuclear power plants and the promotion of stable radioactive isotopes.
  • All tanks start with uranium shells and nuclear tank upgrades.
  • Power plants now generate more power.
  • The Nuke Cannon is available from the start of the game.

Helix
The Helix helicopter for this General is relatively the same as the Helix for China in Zero Hour. The main difference is that with this General, the Helix has a new upgrade, listed below.

Weaknesses: Anti-air defenses, missile-armed infantry

Nuke Bomb
Cost: $800
Purchase At: Individual Helix helicopters
The Nuke Bomb upgrade enables the Helix it was purchased at to drop a nuclear bomb once every 10 seconds.

Mig
General Tao's Mig airplanes are more lethal than their regular counterparts. When the Migs shoot missiles, their missiles will create a nuclear radiation field on impact, damaging units. They will not, however, create a firestorm or damage units with fire.
  Cost: $1400

Weaknesses: Anti-air defenses, missile-armed infantry

Tactical Nuke Mig
Cost: $2000
Purchase At: Nuclear Missile Silo
This upgrade makes Migs fire a small nuclear bomb when they attack targets, further decimating the enemy.
 
Mig Armor
Cost: $1000
Purchase At: Airfield
This upgrade, the same as the one in CnC Generals without the Zero Hour expansion, increases the health of all Migs +25%.

Advanced Nuclear Reactor
The Advanced Nuclear Reactor provides 18 units of power, unlike the regular Nuclear Reactor, which provides 10 units. It can be overloaded to provide more power, although it will be slowly damage during the process. It will provide 27 units of power while overloaded.

Isotope Stability
Cost: $2000
Purchase At: Propaganda Center
The Isotope Stability upgrade prevents most collateral radition damage from harming friendly units when this General's nuclear tanks are destroyed.

» General's Powers:
Nuke Bomber
The Nuke Bomber General's power, which replaces the Carpet Bombing power, allows you to call in a Nuke Bomber aircraft to carpet bomb an area with tactical nukes.

"Anvil" Shin Fai
Infantry General
 

China has been known for its mass multitude of soldiers, and General Fai's tactics capitalize on this fact. A strict disciplinarian, General Fai can mobilize four divisions in less than 24 hours. This General's infantrymen are elite and have all been trained with advanced field training programs. By utilizing several technologies unique to them, this General and his elite soldiers ensure victory on the battlefield.
  • All infantry start at veteran level.
  • Nationalism upgrade is automatically activated from the start.
  • Horde bonus has been increased.
  • Both Battle Master tanks and Overlord tanks are unavailable.

Mini-Gunner

A lone Red Guard solider armed with a powerful mini-gun, the Mini-Gunner can tear through flesh and armor alike. Mini-Gunners can target both ground and air units. The Mini-Gunner comes as a single unit when purchased, unlike the regular Red Guard, and is not affected by the Chain Guns upgrade.

Capture Building
Cost: $1000
Purchase At: Barracks
This upgrade is the same as the one in CnC Generals without the Zero Hour expansion. It allows this unit to capture enemy buildings over a period of a few seconds.

Super Hacker

The Super Hacker is similar to the regular Hacker in CnC Generals. The Super Hacker can, however, disable not only enemy structures, but also enemy vehicles. Like the regular Hacker, the Super Hacker can hack the internet for cash. The Super Hacker is stealth and starts at veteran level.

Super Lotus

Super Lotus is a more advanced version of China's Black Lotus hero unit. Super Lotus can disable enemy vehicles, disable enemy structures, and steal money from enemy supply centers, faster than the regular Black Lotus.

Assault Troop Crawler

The Assault Troop Crawler comes with 8 Mini-Gunners inside of it, who are able to shoot out of it at any time. The Assault Troop crawler heals nearby infantry, vehicles, and air units and can also detect stealth units.

Weaknesses: Tanks and aircraft

Assault Helix
Assault Helixes are are massive, powerfully upgraded versions of the Helix helicopter. The Assault Helix can garrison and transport up to 8 infantrymen. Since the Assault Helix comes with a special bunker upgrade, the infantrymen inside of it are able to fire out of it at any time. The Assault Helix comes with a relatively weak automatic cannon and cannot be upgraded with a Propaganda Tower, a Bunker, or a Gattling Cannon like the regular Helix can.

Weaknesses: Missile-armed infantry, anti-air defenses

Napalm Bomb
Purchase At: Helix Helicopters
Cost: $800
This upgrade enables the individual Helix helicopter it was purchased at to drop a Napalm bomb on an area every 10 seconds. When a Napalm bomb is dropped, a firestorm is created.

Attack Outpost
The Attack Outpost comes with 4 veteran Tank Hunters when it is built. These Tank Hunters can fire out of the Attack Outpost, which can carry a total of 10 infantrymen. It is stealth only when it is not moving and the infantry inside of it are not shooting. This unit detects other stealth units within its large sight range, just like the regular Listening Outpost. The Attack Outpost, however, also heals nearby infantry, vehicles, and air units.

Fortified Bunker
Fortified Bunkers are more advanced versions of the regular Chinese Bunker. These bunkers can hold 10 infantry units and come pre-upgraded with land mines when they are built. Fortified Bunkers are also provide more protection against laser beams and explosions.

Neutron Mines
Cost: $500
Purchase At: Chinese Structures
Neutron Mines kill infantry immediately, as well as drivers of any vehicles that pass by.

Mini-Gunner Training
Rank Required: 1 Star General
Mini-Gunner Training, which replaces the Red Guard Training power, makes all new Mini-Gunners be trained as elite Mini-Gunners, instead of veteran Mini-Gunners.
 

Mini-Gunner Paradrop
The Mini-Gunner Paradrop power calls in a transport aircraft from off-screen to drop off Mini-Gunners at a specified location.
