Hey, I was looking up mods for the dumb unit AI on google and I found this site, I looked around for a while and found only the general AI mods, I couldn't find any information on how to make AI mods so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or would be interested in/willing to make one for me? My main concern is the unit AI's ability to maneuver, my playing style is to overpower the enemy by superior mobility and micro-management tactics. Once I was playing against my friend who is much better at the game than I am, and I came at his tanks with a massive squad of rocket buggies, when I saw that his tanks were pwning my buggies I retreated, you would think that the buggies being many times faster would outrun the tanks with little to no casualties, but we were in a round valley with bottle-necks at each end and my buggies were like cars on a highway after a 50 car pile-up.[skull] I find that bottle-necks are really dramatized by this characteristic of the unit AI and usualy when the bottle neck would fit about 5 flanks of vehicles it instead fits about 3 and they are constantly getting slowed down by trying to merge, even once thier in the middle of a constant width bottle-neck (such as a bridge) thier still trying to merge and thier constantly growing farther and farther apart when I'm trying to get them as close together as possible.

I don't think that there is a fix for bad AI pathfinding.

Is there some place I could get info on how to make my own AI mods? I couldn't find anything on AI mod tutorials.

Not that im saying it will help you in your approach , but as far as i can tell , the best place to learn about AI would be here .... http://sdi.cncguild.net/ Wouldnt it be nice if you could actually have the units roll in formations, because i agree with that the AI is retarded in the sense that they are always trying to follow the exact same line to position.

You're not going to get very far. In most games, AI stands for Artificial Idiocy. The best AI mods still have no micro for the AI, because it's almost impossible to make.

OK, thanks guys, madmax_the modder thanks for the link I'll read up on it when I get the time. Another question, do you guy's think it would be posible to make a mod to add the option of formations sort of like in AoE II, or would that just not be feasable without having to decompile the whole game and rewrite the sourcecode?

No... this is exactly what i was refering to. I was fairly bleak in such, but the fact is , that the generals ctrl + F Formation is weak, IMO its not really a formation , because they dont all shuffle and realign, exactly like in AoE. Those were decent formations. Of it was possible (or is) it would be sweet, but from what i have seen , it isnt.
