hi guys,
i got this problem with C&C Generals. i just built a skirmish map. by the way this is an 8 player map...
so i made the terrain, the civilian buildings, the waypoints, all the areas needed BUT for some reason the USA skirmish player doesnt move at all, doesnt build, doesnt do anything. no matter how i arrange the teams, where i place the players, how many USA players there are... the China and GLA players are working fine but the USA bulldozer just stands there that lazy sumbitch. now i have no experience with scripts or build lists, so i didnt use those so its not a script/build list bug.
do any of you have an idea what might be going on here? any ideas are greatly appreciated cuz i'm really stuck with this...[sad]
greets,
gerby1990
ps. i know my map aint that great, i've only just started to build maps so i'm terribly noob, but please focus on the issue, not just how the map looks okey?[smile]

Not knowing the history of the map I can only speculate, but judging from the layer list I would say that this map either started as a Zero Hour map or was worked on at some point with ZH World Builder. Maps are not backwards compatible meaning that a Generals map can be modified for Zero Hour, but a Zero Hour map cannot be made to work for Generals even if done by accident. If this is not the case then I would look into maximizing the inner perimeter areas as they are very tight. Maybe AI needs more room to spread out however I doubt this is the case as the AI would at least build their second dozer even if they don't get to building. The total lack of function and layer list says to me that it was worked on with ZH WB.

Thank you, drummin, for your swift response. i realize i left some information sry for that. but i dont have Zero Hour or the Zero Hour WB. i have a legal copy of generals and with it came the WB. its odd if all skirmish players would have this problem. but what's really odd is that only USA players seem to have this problem. i tried the map ingame and set all 8 players to USA. and indeed they all just stood there. anyway i'll size up the inner perimeters, although it wont fix the problem it might make the map more playable for the CPU or whatever. anyway thx for your response, drummin. i could try and simply delete all the perimeters and waypoints and combatzone and place them again.
the only explanation i can think of is that somehow the worldbuilder has set the US faction as a human player... this is ultraweird since i triple-checked this already; GLA, China ánd USA have that particular box checked ON (meaning they are computer controlled)

i just spotted something weird. in the player list theres 5 'players':
(neutral)
PlyrCivilian
SkirmishAmerica
SkirmishChina
SkirmishGLA
now i noticed that the (neutral) player (whatever that is) had been set to belong the American faction. to which faction should i change that? civilian or observer?

ok changing the (neutral) player in the player list to the faction Observer did the trick. i have no idea how it got assigned to the USA faction, probably a mis-click. anyway thanks again drummin and i hope this thread won't be considered a waste of space (cuz it was just me correcting my own error :P)
cheers,

GREAT JOB finding the problem! I've never seen a faction applied to the neutral player before. Change to Observer and in the future don't "assign" any players, just click the Add Skirmish players button. Again, good to see it working! And actually the map looks pretty good for a first map. Maximize the base areas and remove area overlap and I'd say the map is good enough to host.
