I have bought 3ds max 9 and patched it to sp2. It says that it can export to w3d. when I export it and then try to import it it doesn't work. is the shockwave w3d the same format as the sage engine w3d. I spend about 1 hour looking through google to resolve this issue and found that it was saturated with brick walls. is the w3d in 3ds max 9 to new for the importer and so genrals zh as well? any help will be appreciated a lot

They're different formats. The Shockwave 3D .W3D is not the same as the Westwood 3D .W3D and is not interchangable.

The Official EA BFMEII/C&C Modding SDK comes with a plugin for exporting files in Westwood 3D formats, buts its for 3DS Max 7 so I'm not sure if it'll work with 3DS Max 9 or not. The SDK can be obtained from http://www.ea.com/official/lordoftherings/bfme2/us/editorial.jsp?src=bfme2_modsdk An alternative method is to export/save the model in a format which can be imported into GMax and use RenX to export it into .W3D format instead.
