Okay, I started making another, bigger and more playable map, but I'd like to know if it's possible to put waterfalls into the map. Just small ones that come from a lake and lead to a river.

There's two possible ways to fake a waterfall:
> Use the destroyed dam model.
> Use a blow ground texture and couple it with a bunch of rock props.

Hmm okay, the destroyed dam is a bit too massive, unless there's a mini version. Secondly, what the funk is a blow ground texture? :D:D
Speaking of textures, is there a guide somewhere with which I could import my own textures into the game?

Whoops, I mean "BLUE" ground texture [stuck_out_tongue] Sorry for the confusing ^^; Anyway, the blue ground texture does work and can be abit convincing when coupled with a bunch of river sounds playing next to it.

As a matter of fact, I posted a possible method of doing that a few days ago. Let me borrow Krit's method for a second and quote myself: [stuck_out_tongue]

I've never tried this myself, but I think you'll need to place your [TGA format] texture file in the [Generals]\Art\Terrain\ folder (create it if it doesn't exist already). Then you'll probably need to extract Terrain.ini and create a new Terrain listing with your texture filename specified. [/quote]

That means modding the game and therefore making that map unplayable on other computer though.

Yeah, I'd like to still be able to send it to my friends and play without having them download any texture files :)
What category can I find a blue texture from (if you remember, I can check it myself later too though)?

Okay thanks, I found a good one. Now the thing is that I can't get my river to flow the right way. Is there anything I can do to change the direction it flows?

Apart from switching the entire set of vertices around, I have no idea.

Dang! Well, here's a picture of what it looks like now:

PS: More room than on my previous map, eh? :D

Needs more rocks to hide it.

Like a tonne of rocks?
Posted by: krit - Tuesday, January 16, 2007 6:36:16 AM
Yeah, plain texture just looks too plain obvious, I find rocks can hide it a little, such as the image below...

Hmm I see, that looks cool. I'll also add some more of them water sounds too :) That pic has so many, I only have 2.

I kinda over did it there. This has been the second fake waterfall I made (And didn't save since I just made this set to illustrate to you on how to fake one), I miss my first one, it was in a map I lost during a reformat.

I'm not sure if I can call this a "teaser screenshot" since it's my 2nd map and I doubt anyone's been waiting for it anxiously. Here's what it looks like.

Not if you could package it as part of a mod map.
