Hi, I made a blackhawk (well actually I modified one from another mod) and I want the sniper to be able to snipe from it. But I don't want rocket soldiers or regular infantry to be able to shoot.
I also want to make the sniper less accurate when shooting from the helicopter. Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this?
Thank you.

Look at the speck for the combat chinook or the helix with a bunker, preferably the combat chinook. copy tthe coding. and then delete all of it except for the snipers coding.

Anyways, the only way that I know of to make snipers the only ones shooting out of it would be to forbid all the other infantry access to come inside.
As for the sniper, you would have to make a fake projectile object but give it a radius (Which unfortunately might kill all other infantry in the radius if there are a few in it.) and a scatter radius bigger than the radius. That way it would sometimes hit and sometimes not.

Thanks AuroraAlpha, yeah first posters suggestion did not work. I thought maybe ZH was different but I looked through the code and saw no difference for different units. I get the forbid other infantry part, but a little unclear on fake object part. I'll do some more searching though. Thanks.

i was in a rush and di not type it correctly. THis is what i meant. isnt thier coding for bunker, what units can come in and ou. right. Well if you copied the codign for a bunker on an aircraft. This will make it so that allinfantry can shoot out of it, like in a regular combat chinnok. But if you were to only copy the coding (in the same section of course) only hte sniper would be able to shot out of it. but other infantry owuld be able to load into it. so you would delete all of the firing paramenters for all other infanty ewxcept for the sniper.

But there is no distinction between unit types in helicopter garrison such as CombatChinook. There is just one command for allow infantry to fire...

But there is no distinction between unit types in helicopter garrison such as CombatChinook. There is just one command for allow infantry to fire...
Yeah, BlackAce, it doesn't work that way. However, I just had an idea. What if you had 2 different TransportContain sections? 1 for the snipers and 1 for all other infantry? Make Snipers have a different "KindOf".
but a little unclear on fake object part. I'll do some more searching though. Thanks.
There is a WeaponObjects.ini that has projectiles, like rockets. What I meant by fake projectile, was to make a projectile but give no model name so that nothing shows up. That way you could give a radius to the weapon in the Weapon.ini, you need a projectile for that.

Please note that by applying the fake projectile, the sniper/pathfinder will be inaccurate not only on the helicopter, but everywhere else as well, so he would also be inaccurate when on foot if that fake projectile is applied.

What I was thinking of doing was just giving the blackhawk a sniper weapon so that it would be like there is always a sniper onboard the blackhawk, a designated one. Then I could not allow other infantry to fire at all. Then for the designated sniper, I could duplicate the sniper weapon and do like you've suggested to make it less accurate. This would then not affect my main sniper. What do you think?
But then it would allow USA to have a sniper immediately which is not a great idea. I like it better when you get it on General's promotion. Aurora, how do I modify KindOf, can you elaborate just a little more?

Hmm... YOu could always make the snipers an upgrade for the helicopter, that way, the Black Hawk will not come with snipers but you can spend additional funds for permanent snipers that are slightly less accurate to be stationed onboard.

For the weapon, do the GLA Biker logic. Rider 1 has no weapon and is the basic Blackhawk. Rider 2 would be the same Blackhawk model but it changes the weaponset and adds an additional weapon everytime 1 comes in. (Make the TransportContain have 5 slots, or however many you want.)

Aurora, how do I modify KindOf, can you elaborate just a little more?
Right underneath the Engineering Properties, there is a line of code. Here is the GLA Biker's:
KindOf = PRELOAD SELECTABLE CAN_ATTACK DONT_AUTO_CRUSH_INFANTRY ATTACK_NEEDS_LINE_OF_SIGHT CAN_CAST_REFLECTIONS VEHICLE SALVAGER SCORE CLIFF_JUMPER
Basically, if you could make the sniper a special type, and change the "KindOfAllowedIn" thing on the Blackhawk to that type, you could allow snipers only.

I have had a similar idea for my mod, except it have to do with regular Bunkers.
First question would be if it's possible at all.
I would like to make the Bunker able to garrisone every infantry types, but rocket infantry units would be unable to shoot out. (Just to make it a bit more realistic)

These are all excellent ideas thanks to all. One thing that would help is a manual or something on INI coding. Does anything like that exist? Is there a reference guide on the commands or a list of commands for generals modding?

Unfortunately, no, or at least not that I know of. However, there are some good tutorials on how to do certain things at places like Deezire.
If you want any more help with this or anything else, feel free to Contact Me, I would be glad to help. Good luck with your mod.

Thanks Aurora, that is a generous offer. I may do that for some of the less obvious things. But I will try to figure out as much as I can on my own before troubling you. God it would be so nice to have a reference though. I can only guess what half of these things do. My mod isn't going to be too ambitious. I just want to make the helicopter more like the one in Blackhawk Down and would like to make a Delta Force team that is available from Advanced Barracks.
The Delta Team is going to include an Advanced Defender (missile guy), regular soldier(advanced), pathfinder (same but with different skin) and possibly a flamethrower and one more unit. A flamethrower is not that realistic though, but would be fun. They'll all have new skins similar to what they wore in the movie, black flak jackets and hockey helmets (not too detailed, but something close). And I want to develop the skeleton and animations to be slightly different. I don't want to be lame and simply change the ini file for the regular soldiers to make them stronger.
Thanks again for all the help.

Sounds good. Keep us updated with the mod, it sounds pretty fun. A custom mission map with it would be cool to have too. [+1]

Aurora, yes I will keep everyone updated. This is a great forum. I got help so quickly. I just hope I do a good job and end up with something I can be proud of and that others will enjoy. My girlfriend gives me **** about working on it though, so it could be a while. I have to find time when she's not around. haha.

This might help: http://files.filefront.com/Ini_modding_kitzip/;6129746;;/fileinfo.html
It lists all (or atleast most) of the things you can extract with a .big extractor, and is nicely organized.
