i came up with a mod idea about a zombie apocalypse (im from land of the dead road to fiddlers green and i play on multiplayer almost every day). It will be called, Attack of the living dead (named after a mud im making made with a program called ultimud so i dont have to program)
features are
1. players can control either humans (no vehicle, air, or sea units. just people) or the zombies (some slow, some fast, uses hand or melee weapons and teeth) that are weak, but travel in huge numbers.
2. bitten humans will turn in a matter of time (but the zombies are weak)
3. there will be bub the zombie!!! (not stubs, bub from day of the dead)
4. new units will include Military (strongest) cop (average strength)and survivalist (weakest and not all have guns)

It remembers me on the first mod ideas I got, "Night of living dead", I planned 6 Years ago for HL1 and than for C&C (4 years ago). Well, keep workng and show us the first pictures [grin]

2. bitten humans will turn in a matter of time
I once had an idea about a tank that brainwashes the enemy soldiers to turn to your side, but got turned down because in Generals you can't program that (I think). So this Zombie stuff wouldn't be possible to mod.

sure it can if you know how to program. alot of stuff could be added to mods

i think it's possible to convert one unit at a time, but i dont know how to do that. there are mods out there where a generals power can convert one unit, but i'm not sure if normal units could do it.

should it have the night of the living dead house, day of the dead bunker or dawn of the dead mall? or should it be based in a city?
if night of the living dead: house and night of the living dead characters
if dawn, mall and dawn of the dead characters such as flyboy or roger
if day, bub!!! bunker! ******* u gets eaten by zombie trap lead by bub!

The N.O.L.D. Mod is a part of the TPoHW-Story. So its better you dont ask for detail of it. Your mod could be in a village at night for example....
Its possible to change the engine code. You just have to know how to extra the C++ Files out of the game.dat and I also guess that it is illegal to change the enginge code. Try to ask EA if you could do this.
To convert characters to zombies you need to change the AI or handle it by scripts anyway.
e.g. A person died and with death OCL you can spawn the zombie. Your scripts could tell the game/AI that this kind of unit automatical will be transfered to enemy/AI player.

once again i cant program but i will learn in college/not for a while
