I've just stumbled upon this new forum and I successfully downloaded a fan-made map and have played a bit of it in the game. However, after I save it and load it after, it displays a message saying that it cannot upload file from My Documents blah blah blah Data/Maps. I extracted all the files, put them in the right location, but it still displays the message. Thoughts? [question]

It would probably help to have the name of the map

Well I downloaded the map (It's just a Generals map, Not Zero Hour.) & was able to save & load it just fine. Did you save the map, patch the game, then tried to load it? If that's the cause, there's no way to load that map again with the 1.08 patch. If didn't patch the game between saving & loaded, could you upload the saved game so I can try to load it? You'll need to put it in a ZIP folder first though. Also, do you have this problem on other custom maps? How about official maps?

How do I do that? Because I don't remember doing anything like that.

You can either try to get onto multiplayer, then it download the latest patch, you can download it from here: http://www.ea.com/official/cc/generals/us/demos.jsp?state=6&ncc=1 Afther you patch the game, try saving a game on the map & see if you can load it.

Which patch link do I download? Is it the North American one?

Yes, that is, if you live on the north americian continent. (I believe that includes USA & Canada.) Be sure to download the 1.08 patch, that's the latest.

Pi, cant he just download the patch, and manually drop it into the directory?? I had a friend do this for me once back when I knew little about game files 2 yrs ago.

Well do you have the patch already installed. (I should've asked for you to find out.) Check out the options window. It'll say which patch you have at the bottom of it. It doesn't work to just put the patch file in the game directory. It contains a bunch more files that the installation takes out of it.

hmmm... maybe it wasnt the patch he was messing with then, I used to let him fool around with it so we could play each other on the LAN using the same installation KEY Code. Maybe he was messing with the .exe file... but I'll leave it at that since we can't exactly discuss those things much further, lol.
