Does anyone know how to increase the stealthiness of the AmericaJetStealthFighter??
I found a couple of adjustments in the vehicle's parameters under "Behavior = StealthUpdate ModuleTag_09"
specifically: "FriendlyOpacityMin" and "FriendlyOpacityMax".......... they only seem to adjust the visual presentation of the vehicle. I haven't found anything that speaks to the actual level of stealth as a variable. Any suggestions?
thanks for any help[smile]

There isn't a stealthness level. Either it's stealthed or it isn't. Do you mean making stealthed even when firing &/or in range of a stealth detechor?

Thanks for your response
I thought that might be the case.........it's kinda funny because I don't see the stealth as it stands making much of a difference to it's detectability by enemy units then non-stealthed aircraft........thats why I want to increase it.

You mentioned about stealth detectors..is there a way of suppressing them?

wait, let me make sure we all understand what it is you want to do. Would you like your stealth fighter to be able to fly into a base, release payload, and fly back out without any stealth detectors being able to notice? or would you like the stealth fighter to be able to drop its payload without being noticed as long as there are no detectors in the area?
You could decrease the range of detectability of all stealth detecting units and structures, but unless Pi knows how to do it in general, I think you'd actually have to go unit by unit and change the range that they can detect.

I would like to be able to have my stealth fighter fly into a base, release a payload and fly out without being detected by stealth detectors.....is there a way to do this?.and can I adjust it so that there still is some risk but not as much as the default provides for?
thanks

As far as I know you cant rly make stealth fighter undetectable, unless you wanna remove stealth detection completely, which is a lot of work... But if you want to make it more stealthy, you might want to edit "StealthDelay", so the fighter would get stealthed faster. And if you want it to stay stealthed while shooting just do "StealthForbiddenConditions = None"

You might try just expiramenting with the module tag:
Behavior = StealthUpdate ModuleTag_09
StealthDelay = 1500 ; msec
StealthForbiddenConditions = FIRING_PRIMARY
; not currently used... but maybe someday? (srj)
;RevealDistanceFromTarget = 0.0f
FriendlyOpacityMin = 50.0%
FriendlyOpacityMax = 100.0%
InnateStealth = Yes
OrderIdleEnemiesToAttackMeUponReveal = Yes
End
Just go to the code & try different stuff with this. But if don't want the fighter to ever get deteched, why not just make it indestrucatble? Try out these steps:
1) Go to the armor set in the steatlth fighter code & change the name to like, StealthFigherArmor. (The AirplaneArmor applies other planes too.)
2) Go to the Armor.ini & find, AirplaneArmor. Copy & paste it in another line & change rename it to StealthFigherArmor & change all the percents to 0%.
That will make the figher indestructable.

You could also just give it more life, since indestructibility could create too much of an unbalance. You can make it break away from target faster or increase the damage of its bombs.... seems like the intent behind your wanting it more stealthy is so that it is more practical to build. This is not an aircraft I build in my games, I just dont see the purpose as it stands now, but you can change things other than the stealthyness if you have the same issue with it.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys
I have tried many of the ideas put forth........however my intention is more visual then practical.I know I can give the unit more life potential by doing such things as increasing the protectiveness of the armor etc. I simply want to be able to fly it over enemy positions with stealth detection and see it not being fired upon or better yet, not being fired upon to any great degree. I have already adjusted the stealth delay to 0, deactivated the parameter that disallows stealth when firing and deactivated the parameter that tells other enemy units to join in on the firing once the fighter is detected, Im still not getting the results I want.
thanks again

maybe you could make him fly out at supersonic speed?? so theyd have to hit him as he releases the payload or not at all...

Stealth Fighters are designed in shape to be able to go undetected to Radar...So any Radar scans (Such as from the GLARadarVan) shouldn't really detect it. Nor should any other enemy aircraft be able to fire at it unless they were using Heat-Seekers...
It might be an idea to follow this and make it so certain rockets (RPG Men etc) cannot fire at them and no enemy jets can target em?

First of all, you are going to have a hard time picking and choosing what can and cannot fire at the slth bomber. Secondly, if you decide that there is currently nothing in the game that realistically speaking can take down the stealth than you are going to throw off the balance. You would need to add a unit that is capable of taking it down for each faction. I mean seriously, realistically speaking a lot of things that happen in CnC are not possible in reality. We don't play this game for its paralleled gameplay to reality, we play it for a number of other reasons. But if its an indestructible stealth bomber you want than do as Pi instructed. Personally I would do something simpler and maybe a less likely to throw off the balance like making the stealth bomber into somewhat of a mini carpet bomber. Have him release about 5 of those shells in a row so hes actually useful towards large armies traveling accross the map. That would be something that none of the other planes do best.

I think I like where this is going....
I agree that making the stealth relativily indestructable will throw off the balance, however I've been doing exactly that with Zero Hour since I got the game over a year ago. My senerio is simply that my forces are the superpower that could blow away any country if I choose to do so; but I choose not to. Just like the USA. Meanwhile I develop weapons that out smart and out fire power the enemy just because I can. I also play Tiberium Wars but I've choosen to leave the balance where it is. It's kinda nice to go between one and the other. Anyway, one of Yoshi714's suggestions really blew me away. Suggesting that I use the sealth fighter as a carpet bomber to hit armies moving across the map is exactly what I did about a month ago. We must think alike............I will screw around with this some more and report my findings.
thanks for your suggestions [+1]
I have had that Carpet Bomber idea floating around in my head for a while.
Never mentioned it though...It would be awesome to be able to turn the Stealth bomber into some form of carpet bomber!
And speaking of Carper bombers...Where the hell is the carpet bomber in C&C Generals. It is shown in one mission Cut-Scene movie in the whole game as USA...?
Why can't I call in Carpet bombers when im China or USA? Why have they left out the carpet bomber. That was one of my favourite superpowers!

I'm glad you like that suggestion... Actually, I'd be interested to see what script you used to make it so, and how it turned out if you are willing to post it on here or email it to me. I just dont think the way things stand now that the stealth bomber has any practicality beyond what the other planes can do. It cant take out buildings like the aurora, it doesnt do well against heavy armored vehicles like the raptor can (plus dealing with air threats quickly), and personally I prefer the commanche for ground defense anyway. I think if it had a carpt bomb like attack than it would be very effective against armies moving in that single file line like movement they tend to do, even as a human player.
