| map of 549 KB becomes 249 MB, so if you uncompress every default map, it will take more or less 6-8 gbs. of hdd space, in old times, its too much, I have tested this in game, the same thing, if playing large map with 4 players, crash will come after 30 minutes as always. Its a pity, that no one can fix game.dat for 2 gigs of ram to work. I hope in the past you people write to the company. |

|
I hope in the past you people write to the company.
EA does not care at all about older games. They patch a few things in the first months after release and everything that is discovered after that few months and everything that is too hard to fix will never be fixed. The only actual thing I ever did with map compression was fixing maps with a HEX Editor if you accidentally broke the map boundaries in a way that it becomes unfixable through the worldbuilder. That is only possible with a non-compressed map and requires quite a lot of trial and error / patience. |
