Hi! I am trying to transfer some units from one mod to another mod. I'm not quite sure what I have to copy and move or change in order to do that. What is required to make a unit (or structure) work from one mod to another mod you are working on?

It depends on the unit/structure Yo would need to copy all the object ini code And if its a totally new unit its commandset and command button too And any other things it references like new weapons and new armour I would say copy the object code and its commandset and the commandbutton used to build it then open world builder and see if it needs anything else like the weapons and armour and either change them to existing ones or add those to your mod aswell

Plus any custom models, any objects it is dependant on, any particle effects that it uses needs to be cloned as well. It can be quite complex if it is a total conversion, or very simple if it is a very basic unit.

Thank you for your ideas. A lot of the units and buildings I want to transfer are new to the mod I am currently working on. I know some of them are going to be complex for sure. Do I just have to worry about the INI codes for this or is there anything else?

It depends If its a brand new unit you may have to edit the generals.csf file (found in EnglishZH.big) and maybe the models for the unit

I found a tutorial on how to make a new fraction on www.moddb.com. Luckily I already have generals csf file editor. So that shouldn't be too hard. Thanks a lot.[smile] I'm going to try to make a whole new fraction I think because I want to put in a lot of new stuff. There will be too much just to add to one fraction that I already have for the mod.

Be careful that tutorial is missing a lot of information I can write a better tutorial but it may take some time

Yeah I wish someone could make a better tutorial for that, that would be great. Honestly there needs to be a lot more of them, but there is only a handful of people out there that still mod the game and I am not good enough to make one myself. If you could make one though, that would be awesome. I realize how much time it takes to do some of this stuff. You are right by the way about the tutorial on how to make a new general on moddb.com. I have not been able to get a new general running yet and I have tried everything on what the instructions said.

My bud JoshZemlinsky knew how to make a new general... But he seems to have disappeared. :ashamed:
