I think there is a Script you can use to do that.
I don't remember the Script try looking under MAP, I think.
But couldn't you just reduce the boundaries on before you generate the map? Or you want it to expand while in-game?

Thanks Bomber yeah you have to use the border tool to create a new boundary then go in scripts - new script - map - modify - change active area and then chose the new colour you drew. Oh and do you know how to create a timer? sorry im a right rookie at this!

You don't need a script. The default active border can be moved if you're careful. Rotate the map so you're looking at the upper-right corner. Using border tool click/hold on the corner of the border and drag it out to match the map boundary line. If you miss and create a new border don't worry about, just keep track of that original active border and don't delete it.
