I've never seen this problem before. Does it only happen when you have the mod installed? Are you using Windows 7, or another version of Windows? 32-bit or 64-bit? I found some mention of ssleasy32.dll on these pages: * http://indyproject.org/Sockets/fpc/OpenSSLforWin64.EN.aspx * http://code.google.com/p/openssl-for-windows/ You might try downloading the version of it appropriate for your version of windows (32- or 64-bit), and extracting the dll file(s) into the folder in which you have Red Alert 3 installed. Downloads available here: http://code.google.com/p/openssl-for-windows/downloads/list

Is it the Origin version of the game? Thing is, if it's not the retail, the files of "The Red Alert" will be placed in a different directory then the game itself. Therefor you need to copy the DLL files FROM the original RA3 to the mod directory (placed in: X:\"Install directory"\Data\Core) to the mod folder. These are the files it says it's missing. But, so far I can't seem to get "The Red Alert" to work with my Origin version of the game. It seems to be starting Origin first (which is logical since it's the Origin Digital Version) and then asks if i want to run the Original RA3 or Uprising addon version. After that it just runs the version I startup and not the mod. I also have the Steam version of the game. Gonna try that and see if that works aswell. Tried the steam version, you just have to change the launch options and type: -ui. Therefor you get the launcher options of RA3 and can go to the tab "Mods" and select "TheRedAlert". I'll keep in touch.

Ok i got past the dll errors. Now i simply cant run the game because it reverts to origin and launches the red alert 3 instead :P Gawd if i didnt hate EA enough now origin prevents mods ? seriously

On a side note i cannot play rise of the reds mod either for generals through origin. When you run the mod it just opens origin and you choose either Generals or Zero Hour :P F* YOU DOLPHIN AND F* YOU ORIGIN!!!
If you have the Ultimate Collection you need to replace the old launcher for RA3 that passes command line parameters like -ui etc. This is a test launcher I made: http://bibber.bplaced.net/downloads/misc/ra3launcher.rar Should work. Don't forget to make a backup of the old one.
THIS WORKS!!! Thanks to all for the help ;)
My ra3 is through origin get this error msg when i run the red alert mod (after installation) 'Missing required file "ssleay32.dll"'
Just to clear things up. The problem with the dll is that the working directory of the TRA shortcut points to the wrong directory. It has to be the game directory. Nothing has to be copied, only the shortcut needs to be adjusted.

How works that to use mods with that?

Looked Everywhere can not find a way to play this with the Origin Version. is it possible? all I keep getting is the launcher that goes straight to normal game. added -ui at in the commandline arguments have The Red Alert shortcut going to the RA3.exe. but still no bueno.

When I try to run the mod Cold War Crisis, I get the error that the game can't find the "ssleay32.dll" file. Tried to put that file in the directory, in the windows/system32 and the sysWOW64 folders too, I'm using Windows 7 64bit. And of course, I'm using Command & Conquer The Ultimate Edition. It's funny, cause the mod "Cold War Crisis" has it's own launcher for fiering up the game. At first, the ssleay32.dll file wasn't missing, but I got diverter to the launcher for Generals/Generals Zero Hour where I pick wich one to play. So I reinstalled the mod, and then the "ssleay32.dll" file was missing. What a fucking mess this is. I wounder what it takes to get around this shit. [-1] ISO might just be a way around it though. Attatch the mod launcher to ISO and trick the system into beliving it's a disc, maybe we can skip the fucking Origin launcher bullshit. Trying to mod a game from the 90's and try other mods, but it seems like I have to digg up Hitler's computer to be able to get somewhere. [-1]

Missing required file "ssleay32.dll" RR3 is installed through origin which is located on another drive. How is this issue corrected? The Red Alert program installed to my C:/documents, would this cause that issue?

I know that this page is super old, but I have been having the same problem. I've been looking around the web for answers, and apparently, this supposedly missing dll file problem isn't a problem with the C&C games. It's a problem with Origin, in fact, I read an EA help page that said it happened with Mass Effect, and it wasn't even modded. I have no idea how to fix it, though. I tried to mod C&C: 3, and the same error occurred. When I modded Red Alert 3, it opened the base game with no changes. Modding Generals didn't work well either, so I installed a free third party version, which is totally fine 'cause I already own it. I wish Origin would stop being so annoying and restrictive. I'm sure that it's just so people won't cheat at games, but for games like C&C, EA needs to understand the purpose of modding. [skull]

Guys for the ultimate edition from Origin follow this video on youtube, it worked for me: https://youtu.be/CiV0qMJ-eIM That user has more videos also for the normal version of Red Alert 3.
