Modding post-C&C3 is more difficult than Generals because you need to use a compilation tool instead of having the game parse your mod at startup.

can i mod ra3 or TBW3 without the mod sdk? because the TBW3 mod sdk messed up my game files when i used it a long time ago and i had to reinstall the game

No, you can't mod either game without the Mod SDK. It's wierd that it would mess up your game, though.

Modding C&C3 or RA3 compared to Generals is a serious pain-in-the-neck. You have to extract, modify, and create all the files manually. What I do like about theirs better is that it is (or rather should be) more seperated from the game than it is in Generals. By the way, do you know where I can find the Generals Mod SDK?

There is, but discussion of it doesn't belong here. Try Google.
