Good day everyone. While I've been making maps for C&C 3 for quite some time, I'd only just started making them for Zero Hour a few weeks ago. Now, the problem is - I've made a map and set up starting points, including the inner and outer perimeter boxes (not sure about the waypoints yet for the AI), but every time I go to test it with only my player active (I usually select 1 player in the player select screen in skirmish just to see if the map works normally before tweaking the AI) I can't move my units or builders beyond their initial starting points (they just freeze up and run in place). Is there something that I'm doing wrong - again, forgive my ignorance, I'm still used to working in the C&C 3 Worldbuilder and never really had this happen before. Anyway, I hope anyone here can help; I've been working on my newest venture for about 2 weeks now and I'm eager to play it. Thank you for your time.

Your map could be too big. What size are you using?

Hello and welcome to the forum. It's hard to tell what might be going on but I suspect the map is setup more like mission style than for skirmish. Seems like there may be a conflict with team ownership. The basics are to add the players using the "Add Skirmish Players" button not changing relationship that loads up. Sounds like you may have added the players manually. You've got start positions and perimeters placed but you might look at this post and the image for help with pathways. If you can't figure it out you could zip-up your map folder and attach it to your post.

Yeah, that's what I was fearing - it's 800 x 600; even I think it's too big, but I'll try it again in a 500x500 or so and see if it works any better. Is there any way to transfer elements over from a map to another file or do I have to start it over?

Unlike C&C3, ZH doesn't have a terrain copy tool, just objects.

Gotcha - thanks a lot; I somehow managed to get it up and running a while ago.
Also, one more thing - whenever I select things (or try to) sometimes it brings up the water area selection instead of selecting the object or road I'm trying to fix, and rather than selecting anything, it drags a big blue line over the area; even when I cancel out of it, it will jump right back to it about 30 times, and it's quickly become infuriating. Is there any way to turn that off or otherwise get it to not pop up when selecting other objects?

its a bug.
its a permanent bugged point on the map. thats why the bug occurs over and over again if the unit you want to select is on that point.
you just have to live with the bug but there are ways to work around it.
you can hide the trigger areas for example (View -> Show Trigger Areas).
if you already accidently moved a trigger area or water area then just use CTRL + Z.

Groovy - thanks for the assist and the heads up; seemed to have stopped doing that for a while. In the meantime, I'll be getting back to work on my newest map "The Unveiling" - it's gonna be a good one. Thanks again!
