I downloaded and installed Real Threat, but now whenever I try to load up Generals I get a pop-up message saying "technical difficulties", and it refuses to load. I'm running an unpatched version of the game without Zero Hour: is this the cause?

Now I've fully patched it and installed the version for vanilla Generals. I can play the game, just the mod doesn't do anything. Why is this?
