hi again, im pulse but for some reason it wont let me log on and i tried all my passwords and requesting my password again (anyway to transfer my post to this account???). but whatever ill use my c&c name. so heres the problem. im working on a new aod map, but everyone keeps getting a mismatch game after first 5 seconds. i have a feeling this has to do with my scripts so if i post the file, can someone check it out? thanks. pulse/notdeadyet

btw, why are bb codes all disabled :|

btw x 2, dont spread map please. i have only finished 10 waves and i dont want this to turn out like my map red canal. where there were 10 version, and the only difference b/t versions is the # of waves i finished. i just want to release this once.

If you're worried about someone stealing your map, remove the link.
Me Myself and Pi has already addressed the issues.

thanks for that. i will change it right away. although i will take another aproach to doing the reveal map. i believe if you reveal it for the skirmish gla player it reveals it for all. as for the tutorials i used your tutorial for aod when i started, right now i winging it. i will use that str file tutorial though, i didnt know you could fix that issue. i thought the best you could do was take the missing away. thank you again. ill fix it. :D

btw. how do i remove the file?

Yeah, you can reveal for the SkirmishGLA player. I just didn't bring it up because it makes more sence to reveal for all the players like that. Even though the outcome is the same.

You can remove the file by clicking on ATTACH again. You should see a remove thingy for your file.

okay, now i have another problem. i tried the reveal skirmishGLA radar and the reveal player0, player1...player7 thing. none seem to give GLA radar. and my scripts for the different computer levels wont work. they were working fine when i just had the same timers for easy, medium, and hard. but i made 3 sets of everything and changed different times b/t waves depending if i marked easy/medium/hard. but they wont work :|

Change the enable radar script to "The radar is now forced to be enabled." Timers work fine on Hard and Normal. Didn't wait long enough for easy.

I didn't last though the first wave to check the second one. Twenty Burtons can take out just about anything you could put together in sixty seconds.
---
Note:
The timers worked fine when I tried it. If they give you problems, you might want to make all your script names unique.
Timer_1H
Timer_1N
Timer_1E
Doing this would also change it so the script name and timer names are different. Having the same names (As in Timer 1 sets Timer 1 etc.) has given me problems in the past.

Yeah, the timers worked fine for me too. Are you sure you uploaded the right map?

Here's a little mod I made about a year ago that'll help you with you're map testing. Just put the 0USAMod.big file in your game directory, C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\, to install it. Just be sure to be USA when you play. To unistall it, just take the files out of the game directory.   USAMod.zip (172kb) downloaded 55 time(s).

want does your mod do?

ill fix the radar thing. but when i was playing my map on easy. the wave never came :| and i also had different names for my timers but then i thought it was confusing cause they were all copyed. so i had like Timer 1, Timer 1 C, Timer 1 CC.

okay i was testing just now, and something really weird just happened. i put some computers on my team in the other positions just b/c. and they were on random, but one random was selected to be gla. the computers on my team were on hard and the aod ai was on easy. but everything was transfered to the hard ai on my team, and the hard scripts were used. now would this happen on online play if someone decides to be gla??? i know why it happened, but is there a way to say.. transfer everything to the GLAskirmish in position 5 ???

btw radar works at least. thxs 😃

I don't have your map open or World Builder up right now, but all you'd need to do is add the start position to your wave scripts. Something like
*** IF ***
Player '' starting position is 5.
*** THEN ***
Activate wave script

Note:
As I recall, your waves were all in one folder.
Deactivate this folder and use a script like above to activate the folder. This should tie player 5 to this folder.

thanks, and thanks again. i must sound stupid, but i have another question. i fixed everything. all waves work. radar worked. i used that script to activate folder. blah blah blah. now the boss wave wont come in.

*** IF ***
Timer 'Timer 10 (boss)' has expired.
*** THEN ***
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' is transferred to the command of Player ''
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' is transferred to the command of Player ''
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' is transferred to the command of Player ''
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' is transferred to the command of Player ''

i thought this was fine, but it doesnt work. does this have something to do with the boss being out of map and if there is no waypoint to follow, it cant find its way in?

but one random was selected to be gla. the computers on my team were on hard and the aod ai was on easy. but everything was transfered to the hard ai on my team, and the hard scripts were used.

This happens because the scripts you made for the SkirmishGLA player occurs with every GLA player on the map. It doesn't affect human players, so you don't need to worry about it.

The problem with your boss wave is in the Wave 10 Boss script:
*** IF ***
Timer 'Timer 10 (boss)' has expired.
*** THEN ***
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
In this script, you tell the units to attack everything in an area, then have it transferred to the GLA player. When a unit is transferred to another player, it stops. So you need to transfer the units first, then tell them to attack, like this:
*** IF ***
Timer 'Timer 10 (boss)' has expired.
*** THEN ***
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' is transferred to the command of Player '<This Player>'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (1)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (2)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (3)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Unit 'Wave 10 Boss (4)' attacks anything in area 'Attack Area 2'
Also, it's easier to just tell the units to hunt, rather them to attack a trigger area. (Unit\Hunt\Set a spesific unit to hunt.)

Yes, Me Myself and Pi, That was my first thought as well and tried to rearrange those script lines. The problem is that those units are outside the active area of the map. I tried a number of scripts to get them to move inside and to transfer to the GLA player... Nothing is working outside the Orange boundary line. I know that I've been able to get units to move into a new active border that I've made. The units were inside the orange border in a shrouded area of the map. But this map has units all around and so it would be hard to make it work right because of the bottom left corner. The best option is to spawn or create units as he's done with other waves.

Hmm. Yeah, that is weird why the boss wave doesn't come onto the map. But it's bed time here so I'll look into it more in the morning.

Oh yeah, that mod brings all the build times & costs for the USA army to 0. So as soon as you order a unit, it's built free of charge! Also, none of the units have prerequisites now, generals powers don't have delay times, & Colonel Burton & strategy centers can be built multiple times. This is very handy for testing map like AOD. Remember, this only applies to the USA army. If you play against skirmish players, don't play with other USA player, especially the USA army. The SW, Laser, & Air force use the same powers so it will extremely lag!

thanks i will change scripts. my next problem is the spawn zones. since i have them coming from four different angles they spawn like this... [sry about that. that picture i was drawing did not show up how i wanted it to.]

if you have played my map to at least the second wave, you will notice that since the armies come from the top left right bottom; they spawn horizontally and vertically depending on the side. this throws off some players, and a select few dont even see the ppl because they spawn and get stuck outside map. would the best approach be to have a short waypoint for each "team" and have them follow onto map? or should a make a spawn zone and put impassible terrain there so the armies can spawn without ppl glitching them? im kinda leaning towards this one. if i put a spawn zone there, it will give everyone a more equal chance, right? 😢 thanks.

I think what would be best is if you have all the teams follow a waypoint path onto the map. Then when they spot enemy units they should hunt.

Also, that mod I uploaded is very fun to use. You should try it.

Here's an unfinished AOD map where I did this on:   New Compressed (zipped) Folder.zip (47kb) downloaded 2 time(s).

I'd suggest...
*Move your attack zone area to inside the Orange border.
*Make a script the says if unit gets in this attack zone they begin hunting.
*Change the subroutine that tells them to attack to "Move toward the nearest object of type small supply pile". OR, move along path if you wish.

So the units spawned will move toward the center of the map. When they reach the "attack area" they begin hunting.

The idea of building up the terrain around the sides is good as well. That should bounce any stray units in.
