Hello all,

Water Tool:
I've resized a map and am having trouble with the water tool. Seems I keep creating water areas when trying to move, remove or adjust the water height. I must have ten or so areas which I want to remove. If I can find the default water, I want to adjust size and height.

Borders:
I resided the Orange border when I changed map size, but in doing so I seem to have added a number of other borders.
Do I need these extra borders?
How do I remove those I don't?

I know these are rather basic questions.
Thanks for your help,
Drummin

The default water area is at the outside of the map (past the border lines until the edge of the terrain.) It is a blue rectangle or square depending on the map's demenions, to move it click and hold, to adjust the size click and hold a corner square, to delete it, press the Delete button (not backspace.) Me myself & pi will help you on borders, he seems to know me than me on border issues. Remeber to not move the camera (including zooming, rotating, and moving directions) when placing the water areas, it stops you in the middle of placing it if you do.

Thanks Fleetatks for the quick reply.
How about getting rid of the extra water areas? At this point there are many. I have tried to grab them and press the delete button.

Thanks also to you Me Myself & Pi for your reply below.

You don't need to use the water tool to adjust the water area. Just use the regular mouse pointer. Make sure you have trigger areas showing first (to make sure trigger areas are showing, check it out in the View menu) & click & drag on one of the corners to adjust the size. To adjust the height, click on one of the corners or lines & then you'll see the adjustable height in the option window on the left. You can also delete the water by pressing the delete button when it is selected. The water tool is used just create new water area & adding points to an already created one.

To adjust the borders, on hand the other hand, you do need to use the border tool. You don't need to get rid of the other borders but if they're in your way, you can turn off the view of them from the View menu. (Show Map Boundaries) But if do want to get rid of them, click on the top right corner of a border, using the border tool, & drag it down to the bottom left corner of the map. They should then disappear.

[In responce to Drommin's edited post above:]

I said how to do it, "You can also delete the water by pressing the delete button when it is selected." To select the water, just click on one of the corners or lines of the water terrain.

Why do so many of your responses have a rude tone?
If you'll notice, I removed the question maybe 50 seconds after your post but before the page refreshed showing your post.

I had seen a dark border line before and your first line made the rest of the paragraph read as if we're editing the default water. I hadn't seen the trigger lines on water before so I could never grab and delete them as I mentioned earlier.

I did figure it out after turning on the trigger view. As aways, thanks for your help.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude. 😞 I was just typing that in a simple way. But I'm glad that you got it working! 👍

If you have 1 water area at hight 10 and another at hight 50, it will be pretty hard to use just one water border. also, if you have a large canyon on your map that you don't want filled with water, you'll have to move the water areas outside of that place.

There are extra borders in case you are creating a multiplayers scenario where you want players to have meet certain criteria before moving on at which point you script a change in border so effectively the map area moves to where the ensuing battle will take place... Ive never used this and not even sure it works properly as many things in WB scripts do not. Having extra borders in your map by accident will not hurt anything, they are just annoying to look at so I drag them down to 0,0 so I cant hardly see them....

Did you get everything figured out with the AI structure building?
Turtling is not a strategy, its a weakness

Thank you everyone for your posts and help on these issues.
I've got the water and borders done. I am having a problem in that the map shows up blank or I should say, with just a thin line down the middle showning when playing. I think it's a border issue. I'm sure i've seen this topic before. I'll do a search.

Thanks again,
Drummin

Edit:
Well this is not looking good.
I found several posts with a similar problem and I may have really blown it when I removed borders.

I believe I have the orange active border. At least it looks orange and moves when I change border size.
It also has a small square in the lower left which I believe I've seen before on this border. Sound right?

I've followed Me Myself and Pi's steps as far as Ctrl-F, Ctrl-I and I see the main dark blue border.
I've changed border size and checked to see if orange border is lined up with blue.

Not sure what else to check???

Edit:
No Yoshi714,
I had a major PC crash just after we talked about adding AI scripts and lost the latest copy (at that time) of the map. I've been working on an older saved copy and bringing it back up to where I was before the crash. I'll get into AI scripts at that time.
Thanks

When you removed the access borders, you may have removed the active border on the map that appears black. Could you upload your map so I can try to fix, if possible?

As Yoshi said, you can create multiple border for the reason of switching between them in the game through scripts. On several official single player maps, they use this technique. The 3rd USA mission is an example.

[In Response To The Last Edited Part of The Previous Post:]
Okay, I checked out the map. You did delete the initial active border when deleting the others. I created some scripts that will adjust the map for the new orange border that you have so now the map looks good. But, this won't work well with online play. Is that your intent for this map? Or just skirmish play? Anyway, here's the fixed map:

[Attachment Removed as Request By Drummin]

When choosing another active border, the black Fog of War turns on & the camera move the bottom left of the map. What I had to do was create some scripts to return the Fog of War to normal & move the camera to the corresponding start position the human player is located. This is why it wouldn't work well online because all the other players would be looking at your base area at game start.

Thanks for your help Me Myself And Pi,
I was hoping for a multi player AND skimish map.
I'll be more careful next time.

I'm getting a 404 file not found error when trying to download fixed zip.

[The Map Was Sent Through Email]

Well if you really want to play this online, you can go to the scripts & click on Export Scripts. Then just explore all the script along with the trigger areas, waypoint, objects, etc... Then import them into a new map with with the same size. Then all you got to do is just remake the terrain.

After doing so, make sure to delete the the border scripts I added & the skirmish scripts that are inside the PlyrCivilian folder. Those scripts use the & will undoubtable cause a mismatch. But you might want to keep some of the scripts & modify them so that they don't use so that you can still have music in the map.
