Hello,
My name is Kyle and I am doing some research for my undergraduate work at the United States Military Academy. I am using CNC as part of my research and I need to modify an existing map to tailor it to the needs of this research. The problem is that I do not have the understanding of the terrain editor to do such work. I was wondering if there is anyone who would like to help me out with this task. I figure why not go to the experts?! If anyone is interested please email me, I have the map and how it can be accessed with a list of changes to tailor it for this research. I can also provide you with more information on the research itself if you are interested. Thank you very much.

This  should help you with the basics, for more help you can ask me on how to do whatever it is you need to do. (I'm just trying to figure out how playing a video game is considered research.)
Email me if you ever need help (edited signature November 6th, 2014)

If you want to customize the map you can do so with the map editor (World Builer).
Here is the basic World Builder tutorial

If you'd like, you could upload your map directly into your post; just zip it and "insert the file".

Thank you for responding, to answer Fleetatks question, I am looking at simulations training. The military is going to simulations training over classroom centered training in a belief that trainees will get more out of a simulations-based training. The theory is that a simulation (or in this case a computer game) is a dynamic scenario that changes each time slighty based on the mission, the map, the moves of the enemy and the moves of the player. The idea is that a trainee will gain a deeper understanding of the situation and be able to adapt easier when training with a simulation vs. a PowerPoint presentation that explains doctrine. The whole idea is to make the training as close to the real thing as possible so it is an easy transition when having to make decisions on the job. My research is going to support/reject this idea based on the findings. It is not that CCG would be a great training aid for the Army, it is just the vehicle being used to facilitate the research.

Thank you for your replies. I am going to read up on the tutorials and if I am having some trouble I will take Renaissance's advice and post the map to see what kind of help you can offer me. Thank you for your time.

Wouldn't a FPS like Battlefield 2 work better?

or a strategy game like ground control where you only control an army but not have the unrealistic base building and stuff like that? though i guess generals would be just as good if it's mostly about logic, quick reaction times and strategy.

I have gotten that question before, and yes it would probably be better to use a different game, but the budgeting and the great number of CCG copies that are available to me made it easier to use this. Not to mention this research is riding the back of another research project - I am reusing the maps for that project and changing them to fit the scope of my project.

Another question, does anyone know an easy way to display a timer when the scenario is finished, to show how long it took to win or lose?
