Well lately i've been reading tutorials and so on to find the answer for my question. But can't seem to find it.

When i wanna make a new map in the world builder for zero hour i wanna make it a 4 player map, but it never get bigger than a very small 1 vs 1 map. Actually so small you can see the opponents base in the screen meanwhile :/

So can anybody tell me how to make the map a normal size for 4, 6 and 8 player maps?

When you click on File > New it should allow you to input the new dimensions of your new map. Or if you already created a map and want to resize it go to File > Resize and input new dimensions and the map will be extended outward with what you arlready created centered in the middle by default, or off to either side and or top or bottom if you change the anchor point when resizing.

All that i know :P

But if i'm making a map that's 250 x 250 or 250 x 350 the map still is the size of a very small 2 player map?

So really can't get the border thing to work correctly :/

Increase map size, keep border size at 10 or less.

I know exactly where you're coming from as I had the same problem when I first started making maps.

First, I would move the water out of the way as it can block the view. Click on the left edge of your map (not a corner) and grab the default water and drag it to the left so it's out of your map area.

Next, use keyboard input (Ctrl I), show impassable terrain to show where your border is. This would look blue and be the size you have set for this map. i. g. Five feet from the edge of map or whatever you have border size set at.

Next, press the Border Tool button found on the right side of your tool bar. The border should show as a solid orange band.

OK, now resize your map. You'll see the map size changed but the orange border is still the same size. What you need to do is resize the Orange border to match the blue one. Grab the upper right corner of the orange border and drag it to match.

Note: If you originally set your border size to zero, this would be to the edge of the terrain and that would be where you would drag the orange border to.

Then just resize your water to the new size. You'll want to resize it BEFORE you drag it under the terrain. Grab the top right corner and make it bigger than your map size. Do the same with the bottom right and top left corners. Once it's big enough, drag the water so the bottom left corner matches your terrain. Then bring the other corners down to size.

Side note:
Whatever you do don't delete this Orange border. I did that once by accident and the map didn't work.

Many multiplayer maps intended for 6 yo 8 players are much much larger. Around 400 x 400. Just beware that the larger the map the slower the game may go depending on what else you have in the map and how efficient your computer is. I've made maps larger than that, simply to create some awesome environments but for the purpose of playing 4v4 thats not smart since that many players on that large a map will cause lag even on the mostly beastly of a machine. I suggest trying 400 x 400 if you are making a 6 to 8 person map. And a good measure of size is to actually place a command center at every intended start location prior to finalizing base areas so you can see relatively how large that area is already. Then delete the structure when you save the map.

Thanks mate. That was the answer i was looking for :)

Now my mapmaking will start again, but slowly UserPostedImage

Doh. One last question. If i resize the map, do i have to place new start points then? Because last time i did that after i placed the start points i only saw a little corner of the map and the other start point was gone

Just make sure the start positions are within the border.

...i only saw a little corner of the map and the other start point was gone

The start positions probably were off the border. Make sure you have Map Boundaries from the View menu are checked &, as Drummin said, have Impassable Terrain turned on.

Waypoint's such as start positions will have the same relation to each other as in distance. So resizing doesn't change those distances. The placement of "what you have already" will depend on the anchor square as Yoshi mentioned above. Areas, like inner perimeters don't always move the same so you may need to be adjust those.
