When I try to resize my map to make it bigger, the orange boundary thing shows the boundary being in a very strange location, and it doesn't grow at all, no matter what I put the new boundary size to in the option. What do I do?

resizing maps is tricky.

ill try to explain how it works. so you have this menu:
UserPostedImage

first thing to do is SAVE YOUR MAP. and make a new savegame for when you started using the resizing tool because this tool is dangerous and can cause an irreparable bug which will screw up your entire map (If you see your map ingame as a strip with a size of like 1 x 1000 then you are affected by the bug and then you can delete the map file).

you have to select the anchor. select the opposite direction of where you want your map to get bigger.

want more map space in the north? select the anchor to be in bottom middle.

want more map space in south/west? select the anchor to be in north/east.

the border size means the size of the terrain outside of the border. you should select something like 30 for a normal map.

after resizing your map you have to expand or reduce the border in the north east corner of your map.

activate the border tool (on the left side next to the script menu button) and then drag&drop the north east corner of the border to the desired position. you can only change the north east corner of the border. for the other corners you have to work with the border size in the resizing menu.

Thanks! But, is there any way of making the new border size absolutely perfect? It seems to me that you have to manually drag the new border, and theres no real way of making it look equal on each side.

well, the best way to do it is to have a precise plan of your map before you start it.
I used to draw like 5 different jpeg files in paint before I started one (yes, 1 - whole and 4 - 1 for each quarter).
I once even planned to make a 1000x1000 map, but the WB ate all 2GB of ram few hours into land modelling and texturing.
My best tip would be to try if you can open your map in WB, select the whole map (drag over all selectable stuff), press CTRL+C, make a new map with desired size, and paste the stuff back. you might want to add all the player/scripts (export/import) before, to avoid the need of assigning everything back to the teams.
Do not overwrite the existing file, I have never tested this, it from the top of my head

It's not that hard to reposition the map boundary line and border if there was a mistake in resizing or things were added outside the map border. Attach your map and I'll have a look.
