Hey,i just started using the generals map builder (without zero hour), i watched a few tutorials and then started to make my own map. I set the map at 500x500, like advised in a tutorial, and then (unlike advised) i spammed the border at 1000 😕 Probably a bad idea 😕 It froze for a couple of minutes then crashed, now it won't load. It says runtime error and abnormal program termination. Any help would be appreciated, cheers 🙂

Hey there,

500x500 is a very big map, it could be used for 8 players. If you have a mission only you can decide the map size, but if you're making a regular 1v1 or 2v2 map, then 200x200 - 300x300 should be enough. And the runtime error can be caused by many things, I used to get it every time i had a mod installed, so if you have a mod, uninstall it. If you don't have a mod installed, try to re-install the game, I had to do that once too. If you get the error when using world builder, then it could be because you're using a too big map (like 500x500) for your computer to handle. The error also appears sometimes when you are making too hasty moves, like, you might be placing some roads and then quickly switch to the tree placer tab and start placing trees.

Those are the reasons I know of that can cause that error to appear, if nothing of that works, I can't help you.

My Documents > C&C GEN ZH Data > Worldbuilder.ini
replace your 1st section with this
[GameOptions]
cloudMap=0
Default Map Height=20
Default Map X-size=500
Default Map Y-size=500
Default Map Border=75
Sets it to 500x500 with height @ 20 and border @ 75
P.S, if you set border larger than half of the X/Y dimensions you'll get that error since border will be bigger than the map (will 'overlap' itself).
I genrally recommend leaving the border @ ~1/10 of whole size, i.e 50 for 500x500.

You can also try to install this:
Microsoft - C++2008

That will probably help if you're using a Windows XP, but it does not always work with Vista or 7.
This prevents the "Worldbuilder.exe *32" process to conflict with other processes, cause when they conflict, they can also cause the "Runtime Error".
