Yeah, I suppose it's possible that your computer just isn't up to the task. What are your specs?

Assuming you use Windows XP, click start, run, and then type "dxdiag". You should get all of the information you need on your computer's specs.

well i assume someone already knows ; this error has nothing to do with PC beacuse game reports it when game engine fails , in ZH 1.0 version this error was very anoying 2/3 times per day (well if you played so long) in 1.4 v ZH game engine was really updated , maybe 1 crash/error in 1 month , the fact is it's caused by normal gameplay events(sometimes offical ZH 1.4)but having a mod or playing an unoffical map you'll have to expect this error ; i remember playing (contra 005) Lan 1v1 and i sneaked with black lotus to back of opponents base and i tryed to capture his HQ(command center) instantly when black lotus captured HQ game crashed and bad old error appeared.
Remember , no viruses no overheated hardware just an crazy internal game error , thats why the patches are also for.

Ok. in normal generals i didn't saw that error but you are still using unoffical maps , its not about generals or ZH , if you're using unoffical maps , it's not fully tested and it's been done maybe by a single person, so again you'll have to expect this error , no matter what generals you have , neither the normal or expansion edition.

EDIT: post some details about that MISSING , where is't that written ....?

I just forgot to ask the number one question that should've been ask as the very first reply:
Jobohobo, can please post what is written in "ReleaseCrashInfo.txt" found in "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data"? It points to the direct problem of the crash and some of the people here can find it and perhaps assist you in fixing it.

Only that , error appears in the middle of game or clicking on the map (lol) or starting game ??
In the middle of the game releaseCrashInfo usualy only reports this: game engine failed:Update (something like that)

My guess is that the map doesn't work, I'll download it and see if the author forgot to test it before release. Edit: Both the maps look fine functional wise in world builder, but the 8V map just screamed lag fest. I'm guessing that your computer can't handle the load of the 2 maps with 8 people (and probably just 2 would be bad on 8v) And is overheating. I can't think of any suggestions other then playing different maps, or getting a new computer/upgrading your old one.
Email me if you ever need help (edited signature November 6th, 2014)
