Hello,

does anyone know how to use the w3d material options in 3DS Max7 for making render pics? I especially want to use the w3d shaders like "Additive" or "Alpha Blend".

Thank you in advance for your help! πŸ˜„

Sorry, I have been on holiday for the past week, (I did mention it somewhere, just very discreetly it seems πŸ˜›)

I don't know how to use the W3D properties in Max for alpha blends but I do know how to use standard Max to render Alpha blends:

Press the letter M on the Keyboard to open the Material Editor, assign your material with the alpha blend into the opacity slot found in the Maps rollout:

There you can also set the amount of opacity (on the screen I have set it to 14).

Then click on the material in the opacity slot to open its properties.

Scroll down to Mono Channel Output and change it to Alpha, so that it picks up the alpha layer as being on a scale from black to white.

Juhu, it finaly works 😁 Thank you very muchπŸ‘!!! I guess you should make 3ds max tutorial with this for toher guys wich may have this problem πŸ˜‰

The testing result:
I made 2 flat objects. The top one is an alpha texture that has a white background. And the bottom one is just the ground for rendering.

Another question:

Do you know how to use the particles in 3ds max? Is it possible to let them looks like in generals or in a way?

You can make them look a lot better than they do in Generals. Though I don't specialise in particle effects, I have used them before and they can look impressive if used properly, I'd advise on searching google for some Particle Effect 3DS Max Tutorials.
