ALSO, TO FIX THE HANG ON 2ND SPLASH SCREEN PROBLEM ON VISTA:
Go to your /documents/generals zero hour blah blah blah/ directory
Delete everything. Create a new file called options.ini
Open it and paste the following:

OMG dude THANK YOU, I've been trying to get this to work on my PC after my vista update for a year now... Now I'm running this with Windows 7, it works just fine. Only the opening graphics in the main menu does not play, but what ever the game actually works now.
