I was just wondering how to make a new airfield from scratch. I like the american airfield layout however instead of having 2 hangers at the top and side of the landing strip, have 1 hanger at the top wide enuf to house the B52 and the side hanger big enuf to house the C130. Id also like to make the 2 runways into 1 wide one.

What id hope to do is dedicate this field as strictly a logistical support base (bombing and transport). And like the original airfield, Healing and refueling would be conducted in the airfield.
Instead of having the hangers used for only spawning the aircraft, have the aircraft park inside them and keep the hanger doors open while the aircraft are "at the airfield" parked inside the hangers. Thus the takeoff sequence would be:
*Exit hanger
*proceed to edge of runway (similar to original airfield)
*hanger door closes behind aircraft
*aircraft takes off

Landing sequence would be the same but backwards (of course).

^^^^NOTE^^^^ For the hangers to work, Id have to somehow lock each hanger to spawn the correct aircraft right (wouldnt want the B52 spawning in the smaller C130 hanger)? How could that be done?

for modelling tutorials, utilize google, it does work
To dedicate the airfield to 2 units only, maybe 2 RiderChangeContain modules could work, I'm trying to work how it works out myself atm, but to dedicate specific slot, not sure if its possible.
As for the closing hangar and stuff, I think you could mix the

KeepsParkingSpaceWhenAirborne = No

from JetAIUpdate module, and give both c130 and b52 a weapon that has the requirement of docking at an airfield to reload (some piece of code in weapon.ini, look for it in jets' weapons). But this means any plane of the same type (IF riderchangecontain works) can land instead of the 1st one whenever he wants. Also, from what I remember, hangar doors open the moment you assign the unit to an airfield (right click on it, or unit is out of ammo).
This game is too old for too complicated stuff, maybe annihilation will have another solution 🙂
