I am obviously new to this page, but I would be quite grateful to anyone who would be able to help me out here. I was trying to adjust the maximum zoom out range in generals zero hour and accidentally set the INI files to always open with notepad instead of only temporarily. Now the game will not run. Does anyone know how to redress this error/set these files to open with the correct program (not notepad) so I can play again?

It will make no difference whether or not they're set to open in notepad automatically. It sounds like you've created a syntax error in the code, or something similar.

Can you give a detailed description of what you did?

I tried using the new tech mod for ZH and went into the INI file to try and edit the maximum zoom level because the game doesn't zoom out far enough for my liking. I changed it, saved the file, and then when I tried to run ZH, it wouldn't even start. I just uninstalled it, and it works fine so long as I don't try and edit anything. So much for trying to adjust the zoom levels.

Hmm...

Do you have window's user account control? If so, turn it off, it will interfere with any change to the game.

Can you post the contents of Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\ReleaseCrashInfo.txt

I don't have a folder in the data file by that name...any idea where that should be? My user account control was turned off to begin with.

It's not in program files, it's in Documents, or My Documents if you're on windows XP or before, and I have no idea what it is if you're on Mac or Linux.
