After messing around with the World Builder and reading the site's wonderful tutorial, I finally created a map that I like so far. It's a simple 1v1 skirmish.

I'm having a couple problems with my map.

Firstly, the AI doesn't appear to work. I placed the perimeters of the bases from how I understood from the guide. Some of the other test maps I created had a working AI, but I'm having trouble with this one.

Secondly, there is no music or ambient sounds. Do I need to go through all of the players and script the music/sounds to play?

Thanks in advance.   Quiet Village.zip (111kb) downloaded 7 time(s).

It looks like your base areas are not setup correctly. Please see this section of the Reviewer Guidelines , in particular the image for setting up map areas and pathways. Also, move your script out of the neutral folder and place it into the PlyrCivilian folder. This is keeping the default scripts from loading. Also remove the name of the map from Map Settings page. Custom maps need to have this textbox left blank.

Alright, I applied everything you said and now it's working. Thank you very much.

I just have one more question for now. When I am making the waypoint from the CombatZone to the InnerPerimeter, I name that waypoint Center1 for player one's entrance. When I extend that into the InnerPerimeter, it creates another waypoint....do I name this something, or leave it as is?

In case I worded it wrong:

Center1 ------------------------------->Waypoint12

Do I leave Waypoint12 as that?

You're are changing the waypoints name. This is incorrect.
Use the waypoint path labels textbox for pathways, which will label the whole path.

Ah, understood. Sorry about that.

Should anything be changed in the tutorial to make these points more clear?

If so, we should fix it up.

No, I don't think that's necessary. The tutorials are fine. Thanks to Drummin and that other tutorial he linked me to, I was able to figure it out.

I was initially using this one: http://www.cnclabs.com/maps/generals/worldbuilder/tutorials/basictutorial/  , which is good, it's just the one Drummin linked me to explained how to apply the AI in more detail.

The problem with the "waypoint path labels" was just me overlooking an important detail, which is clearly stated in both tutorials.

I think an image of Waypoint Options window with the text "Center1" showing in the "Waypoint Path Labels" textbox would make this more clear. I'll see about adding that.

Don't know if it's still applicable, but anyway... You can add these like any other object.
In the CIVILIAN->AUDIO category, you can find most, if not all, ambient sounds.
Good luck with your map. 🙂
