I have a problem with loading and playing the game. The game crashes as soon as I double click it and it launchers. shows the window before resizing window etc. then pops up with a error box that says game has a serious error. I am running on windows 7 Ultimate. and I just got the game, heard alot of good stuff form it, so I really would like to play it :)

Try running the program in compatibility mode. Right Click on the shortcut, "properties", "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select XP (either SP's work). And try from there.

try this:
Documents-->Command and Conquer Generals Data-->options.ini

Paste this into the file and then try it:
Code:

AntiAliasing = 1
BuildingOcclusion = no
CampaignDifficulty = 1
DynamicLOD = no
ExtraAnimations = no
GameSpyIPAddress = 192.168.10.102
Gamma = 50
HeatEffects = no
IPAddress = 192.168.10.102
IdealStaticGameLOD = Low
LanguageFilter = false
MaxParticleCount = 5000
MusicVolume = 48
Resolution = 1024 768
Retaliation = no
SFX3DVolume = 48
SFXVolume = 43
ScrollFactor = 50
SendDelay = no
ShowSoftWaterEdge = no
ShowTrees = no
StaticGameLOD = Custom
TextureReduction = 0
UseAlternateMouse = no
UseCloudMap = no
UseDoubleClickAttackMove = no
UseLightMap = no
UseShadowDecals = no
UseShadowVolumes = no
VoiceVolume = 49

I think both Gen/ZH have issues with writing the file the first time.

I'm out of ideas, sorry :( I have no issues on 64bit Win7 Ultimate. I would have expected the opposite. 32bit to be flawless and 64bit to have all the issues.

all honest. I think it might be something along the memory sticks going bad or the quad core, because they seem to suddenly drop out of the blue when loading this game, so i am placing borderlands in and trying it out on that to see if anything goes wrong.
