Any mapper with gentool installed will have noticed this annoying behaviour by now:

Without starting ZH you start the worldbuilder.exe, gentool is now linked to the worldbuilder.exe

For anti-cheat reasons Gentool is programmed to prevent multiple simultaneous instances of itself. That means if you start the game after the WB has already started, the game is starting without gentool, so you can't go online. So you close the game, close the worldbuilder, start the game, wait for the game to start with Gentool and start the worldbuilder to finally be able to continue.

The solution is fairly easy yet unobvious for most (me included):

You will need roughly 2.2GB HDD space.

Step 1:
COPY the entire Zero Hour Game Directoy that can be found here to the same location:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour

So just create something like:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour_WB

Step 2:
Relink your Desktop/whatever Worldbuilder Shortcuts to the new copied directoy, the worldbuilder.ini will still be linked correctly automatically. All other file and registry links that are now broken do not matter to the worldbuilder, you will not be facing any problems.

Step 3:
Delete Gentool from the copied Directory that you want to use for WB purposes only. File name: d3d8.dll

Step 4: (very important, do not forget)
Be happy af

Update:
This has been fixed as of Gentool Version 7.5

So update your gentool to the latest version!
