I downloaded some new custom maps for me and my friends to play online. I saved and extrated the maps to the right folder (Documents/Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data/ Maps)and I read the read me and it's an multiplayer compatible map. The problem is when we went to play it we had issues. A few seconds after the game started a big black box poped up and said "Game Mismatch" or something along those lines. We all had the map downloaded and we have the same patches, ect. Then we tryed a test. We couldn't play custom maps without Record Stats off. So we played at a Zero Hour Offical map. We played at Tournament City with Record Stats off. It said "Game Mismatch" again. Then we turned Record Stats on and started the game again at Tournament City. The game ran perfect. So in conclusion I want to play custom maps online but for some reason if I turn off Record Stats (for it won't let me play Unoffical maps with Record Stats on) the game will not work. Any tips or help is wanted so any help would be nice.

Try to shut down Zero Hour and download then open a program called "GameRanger". I can't play custom maps online in Zero Hour neither, so just download "GameRanger", and start a lobby there (the actual Zero Hour must be turned off), and wait for your firends to join. When everyone is in you party, click start. The game will navigate itself to a LAN-lobby. Sometime some maps wont work that way either, so just pick a map with a name like "Tournament something", I can't remember the name of it but I play the sand-like map with 8 players. Here's "GameRanger": http://www.gameranger.com/Also, it can depend on mods, so if anyone of you have any kind of mod or modified code, reset it. If it still doesn't work after any of this, try a re-install. Playing custom maps with a .ini file will probably give you mismatches too. Edited by user Friday, February 24, 2012 12:37:32 AM(UTC)

I'll try that but I think the problem might be something to do with Record Stats off.

If it's related to that "Record stats off" (which I think it's not) then I have no idea what the problem might be. |

Is there a way to get the maps with .ini files to work?

Some maps with .ini files do work, but .ini files that contains alot of code causes mismatches to happen easier. Each of the players game have to read all that code, and if some game reads it too slow, then it mismatches. That's just one of many ways it can mismatch. But if you still want to play maps like those stick with small .ini files. There is really no way to prevent .ini mismatches. |

Some of the people might have better/less better connections to the other players and therefore you might load things too slow. There is a lot of things that might be the problem, but if any of the players, including you, have any sort of symbol next to your name, then you might also have to open some ports: http://www.gameranger.com/support/network/http://www.gameranger.com/support/hosting/Great port forwarding program: http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/GL |
