C&C Generals 6th Anniversary Surprise

APOC recently announced the release of Black Sheep, "The Lost Mission" over at the official Command & Conquer site.

Attention generals! You have been requested to report for duty one more time. In celebration of the sixth anniversary of the award-winning real-time strategy classic Command & Conquer Generals, we are releasing an exclusive gift to Command & Conquer fans -- the lost mission of Command & Conquer Generals. The never-before-seen and controversial Global Liberation Army mission was not included in the game’s original 2003 release and has been hidden and securely stored away in a secret location at our EA Los Angeles development studio until today. Command & Conquer, download the mission Black Sheep for free and unleash their inner General. Black Sheep was originally slated to be the third mission in the Global Liberation Army campaign where players were given command of the Toxin Tractor, a slow-going farm vehicle modified to spray a deadly corrosive agent, and ordered to eliminate the town that had been corrupted beyond salvation by the USA's propaganda. While the mission was ultimately removed from Generals, the Toxin Tractor was available in other campaign missions, as well as in multiplayer and skirmish modes.

Installation instructions as well as download can be found here.

New Screenshots from C&C 3: The Forgotten

Over at C&C 3: The Forgotten on our sister site C&C Labs, we've got more to show you! As we work on this mod, we get the sense that we're working on something very special, both from a gameplay perspective and a storytelling one. While we hope to tell you more about the storytelling in the future, it's time to show you some of our new units and a new gameplay mechanic that we hope you'll enjoy. We've added three new descriptions to the Units page--showcasing the Bulldozer, Salvager, and Harvester--and two to the Structures page (Refinery and an updated Tacitus Library). You can view renders and in-game shots below.

We also want to showcase the new gameplay mechanic of the Bulldozer. Of course, in Generals, they were used for construction. Not so here! They are merely raw machines of destructive force. From the description: "Resourceful as ever, The Forgotten regcognize the dual use of construction equipment. In an effort to add firepower to their army, they have taken vehicles previously used for construction, and instead modified them to be makeshift battering rams, capable of ramming with great force into enemy infantry, vehicles and structures. Advanced Forgotten commanders have also managed to run electricity through the spikes on the outside of the dozer, frying enemy units that get too close."

See more at our Media page or learn more about our Units or Structures. Check back soon. We have another update almost ready to go for you, and then we hope to have a video with a special announcement included.

Updated Map Generator

Kos4u2c's RA3 Map Generator has been updated.  New in this version:

  • Added TerrainSeed and ObjectSeed to control randomization of terrain and object placement. You can share a map by sharing the seeds and configuration text file.
  • Added 6 player tournament map generation.
  • Added CliffTest map type to test cliffs.
  • Added tech structures.
  • Changed purple color for tech structures and gold for ore nodes in preview.
  • Changed default Land map type to include water areas. Just change water height back to 195, or increase LandHeightMapVals if no water is desired.
  • Some bug fixes for opening maps.
  • Map preview PNG and TGA are saved in EXE folder when opening maps.

You can download the RA3 Map Generator from C&C Labs.

Red Alert 3 Map Generator

Recently, Kos4u2c released his Red Alert 3 Map Generator. The program allows the user to generate random terrain, start positions, cliffs, and the number of players. The program can create tournament maps as well. The program does require the (free) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to run. We are pleased to announce that we are hosting the Map Generator on our sister site, C&C Labs, here.
