EAComMike, EA's online community manager for CnC and other titles, posted the following message on the Official Message Boards yesterday.
This message is to make all C&C Generals message board members aware or our plans to transition to a new message board system. While a date for this transition has not been set, it is inevitable and we suspect it will happen sometime in mid to late August when we launch the all new C&C Generals website.
The first phase of this transition is to clean up the current boards by removing several of the existing forums. You’ll notice that this has been done. The remaining forums are as follows:
Announcements
C&C Generals/Zero Hour Discussion
Members Helping Members (Tech Questions)
Weekly Trivia
FAQ
The above forums will also be created for the new message boards. If more are needed, they can be added at a later time. I also want to add that the new boards will be visually pleasing to look at. Not only will they be skinned to match the new website, but they will also benefit the board member in many ways. From a community standpoint, this is a good direction to move in and will allow EA to interact more with the board members.
As we near the arrival of our new message boards, I’ll update everyone when the timing is right. If you have questions about this announcement, please feel free to PM me and I’ll answer what I can.
I think that this is good news. I'm also glad to hear that the new boards will match the new Generals website that is being developed... hope to hear more on that soon.
