Hello gentlemen,
I didn't play Zero Hour for a long time but I got back to it. Back in the days I was able to beat Leang once, but I can't remember my strategy anymore. I have both the Laser and SW General played through the campaign except Leang (Level = Hard). Is it better to go to the city North of the camp with Chinooks, Rocket Soldiers and a bulldozer or do you guys go to the right to grab the supply field there first?

Yes, yes, yes, I know I could find out myself, but I got a bit frustrated after the 6th try getting my a.. kicked... ;)

I made it to through all 3 timer resets already and had 2 drop zones and 2 particle cannons, but that's when I get stuck.

Thanks!

I think the best thing to do is build an attack force & start capturing techs & supply docks. So when you base expands like that & Leang does manage to fire the SW's at you, they will only make a dent. This strategy with practice should allow you to win.

I would start by going to the right with some missile-defender-humvees, ambulances(2), and an avenger. Make sure you have about 3 comanches with rocket pods hovering over your command center for the tunnel sneak attack in your base. Some base defenses + avengers will take care of arial attacks, so all that is left is ground forces. Counter long range vehicles with comanches or humvees. Use laser lock (missile defenders) on overlords and paladins if your humvee is dead or damaged. After you've taken the right supplies and tech buildings seek to control the entire southern half of the map. Once you have troops stationned at her main bridge you can build any where you want, making a lot of super weapons and such. Finish her off with aururas, ground assaults, or superweapons.

well, for starters, try and grab the money boxes outside the base as fast as possible and then expand your base so that you can build up a fleet of aurora's to counter the SW's once the 3 bunkers which reset the superweapons are destroyed. playing her is a game of patience. it's not easy really and fortunately, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I don't lose sleep thinking of how to whack her.

Funny you should say that. Not losing sleep over a game.
When I first came to beating Leang on Hard I went to bed late after trying to beat her thinking about possible strategies and woke up thinking about it.
Took me 3 days to beat her but I came through! :)

Sorry for the useless input though. But there aint much I could add that'd really be true. I aint played Zero-Hour for a long long time (Comp RAM not enough :( ) and my memories of fighting her are very very dim.

well, for me, CnC Generals Zero Hour is basically just a game. My life doesn't revolve around it. Sure it gives me great fun and stuff like that, but I do not wish to be like my friends who have virtually wrecked their life after they made computer games the epicentre of their lives.

What the hell does this have to do with the topic?

I'd be willing to write a guide operator_tank , if you'd like. I believe I have a few solid tactics for completing that challenge.

well, it doesn't have anything to do with the topic but it was the evolution of the discussion if you saw how we were talking.
anyway, Leang is real fun to play but she takes a while to crack. By the way, does anyone know the actress who plays herQuestion She's real hot!

Yeah i'll go with that. She is hot! :)

But about the Gen Leang problem.

I'm pretty sure that my tactic hinged on the fact that the whole game is set on scripts and triggers.
I mainly turtle. Fortifying my base slowly over time. Cash is a real problem though and I found that the 1 or 2 derricks you get (Depending on difficulty) can be crucial in your war economy.
Leang tends to always send at least 2 buggies to the cliff opposite the river near the only land route into your base fairly early on into the game (10 minutes or so (ish) ) and these will begin attacking your derrick(s) or at least your defenses.
It is a good idea to build some form of rapid response unit which can take these buggys out. Preferably a comanche or air unit as the bunkers and tank patrols will hinder any land unit that's sent to intercept them.

She will also send small numbers of aircraft to attack you later. These are nothing more than a nuisance, a form of pest. They can easily be warned off with a few anti-air defences but can rack up damage if not prepared for.
As you are slowly building up your base and are beginning to setup your Strategy Center you would have already have taken out at least one SW reset bunker and be nearing a second strike on another.

I aint to good at explaining complex tactics. Way I can see it is:
You have two strategies, expand really really fast and take all you can get then hold off and build up quick. Or turtle and slowly but surely fortify your base whilst building up an arsenal of superweapons.

@ ZergSwarms: I'd love to hear your opinion and read your guide, so please go ahead.

What I did so far:
- pretty much at the beginning I not only purchase the "capture building" option for the soldiers but also the "flashbangs" upgrade whenever I captured the oil derrick
- with this upgrade I take out both bunkers to the right with one/two soldiers
- I built 4 rocket soldiers and a laser turret or rocket defense unit next to the supply field to fight against the sneak attack
- I build a chomanche (no matter if I play SW or Laser Gen) to take out the 4 tanks making the rounds to the right
- I normally use a humvee to get the cash in the lower right corner and a bit north close to the river

Now the difficult part: as soon as I try to send a good amount of ground troops and a dozer to the supply field she sends a freaking army of everything against that. Of course I would not expect her to sit back and relax while I do this, but the amount of vehicles she sends against me is devastating (so far at least). Also the combination of vehicles she sends doesn't have a single "flaw", so there are anti-air units combined with long-distance units (buggys) and RPG soldiers and even two big overlords with gattling guns. At least so far I haven't made it to built up an army big enough to withstand the first strike against that so I can built some Laser turrets or other defenses.

Going into the town north of me with a bunch of RPG units, a dozer and even laser humvees as AA hasn't proven too good either yet. This keeps away those stupid buggys and other annoying attacks from my actual base, but also here she most of the time kills a huge amount of soldiers in the buildings and I can shoot down as many MIGs as I want - she seems to build them together again at a freaking fast speed. I once even detroyed both airfields with the particle cannons and she had air units up again in no time.

Pfew.

On the other side this makes the game interesting, otherwise it would get boring I guess...

Thanks ahead!

Col. Burton is a great weapon on this map. Use him to climb the mountains to take out some tanks (Be sure to scan before you move through town, he has sentry drones), or to assist your humvee assault to take out overlords and other tanks. Aurura bombers are good to use as well, you can use them against overlords, the reset bunkers, or buildings you need to kill off (Such as airfields).

Actually, among GLA factions, Demo Gen has it easier in a way. Since he is mostly focused on brute force he can easily take down many of her units faster since his arsenal has more bite in them. And among GLA factions, he has the easiest way to take down those bunkers, by carrying out a Demo Rebel Ambush.

But the most fun would be to use Stealth Gen. Because he is a specialised General, devicing a way could take a long long time. But I'd advice you to prepare 2-3 Hijackers early (i'm talking about Hard mode here) because there will be a few Overlords coming your way and you won't want to miss them Big Smile Jarmen will be very effective here too.

Just a little update on my fight with Leang. I finally made it with the SW general. Long fight but it worked out fine after I had some general powers to take out her airfield(s) and a war factory. I moved to the right to the 2nd supply center first (to be more exact to the entrance of this valley north of the oil derrick). After I had a base to the lower right and after her first strike destroying my airfield in my main base in the lower left, I just built a bunch of Particle cannons and kept her busy having to rebuild her base while my troops got moved forward to the North.

Its a really nice map. I would love to have this as a regular map for the Skirmish mode.
