Why is it so difficult in these world builders to draw a pyramid with terrain/height brush :<
Is there a way to lock terrain brush's shape to square instead circle? (Beside reducing it to 2 pixels which makes creating a pyramid out of terrain even more difficult)

Is there any way to make a perfect pyramid shape from terrain? (I know there is a pyramid decoration in ZH files but i want to know if its possible to make one out of the terrain which gives me more possibilities to customize its size and texture)

Have you tried using the ramp tool? A bit tedious, but it'll make some of the work easier.

I did but its limited too i don't know how to make a perfect pyramid with it the top and the corners are the major problem.
All i can make with ramp tool is a Aztec looking Ziggurat :< guess that's as close as i can get with the ramp tool.

There still is the mesh mold tool.

You can theoretically simply add custom shapes if you know how to create/edit w3d files or find yourself some dude who can.

I already tried putting some of the EA made w3d files and in theory it seems to work.

Btw is there some dude who can create a very basic pyramide w3d object in gmax/3dsmax?

For scaling reference you can use the w3d files found in the link above



And just as a sidenote: You could theoretically create the entire map terrain in 3dsmax/gmax and then use the mesh mold tool to press it into your actual map. No idea if it works, but I don't see a reason why it shouldn't.

I get Assertion Error when i try to use the Mesh Mold tool with the files you linked.
The mold w3d files are in my Zero Hour /Data/Editor/Molds folder

Is that correct?

It just took me 2 hours to get gmax running and understand how to create basic shapes and how to export them to make them worldbuilder compatible and....

Tho can Mesh mold tool be also somehow restored in Kane's Wrath or Red Alert 3 world builders? It would give me so much more possibilities when making maps for those games aswell.

Tried same method but the tool still remains unusable in RA3 and KW worldbuilders so i guess its not possible? :3

Welp, I could theoretically have a look but I have neither of the games. I need the Worldbuilder.exe (not the installer!) from both games to have a chance to fix it.

No the button works it opens the list of meshes available but when you click on the terrain nothing happens.
It acts as if the w3d meshes are missing. (Doesn't read your custom mesh either just displays list of default ones)

So let me get this straight.. the default Molds show up without you having to install them manually?

If so I have absolutely no chance to fix this and they have probably been hard-coded into the worldbuilder, accidentally destroying the tool somewhere on the way :(

Or maybe KW and RA3 don't rely on w3d files anymore? That would explain why the custom Mold doesn't show up, but doesn't explain where the default ones are/need to be.

The Mesh mold menu code is pretty much unchanged and can't be the problem, my first guess was that it has just been grayed out, but meh:

And btw, this mind sound retarded, but did you try opening a ZH map with KW3/RA3 worldbuilder?

I think in the past I once tried it and it worked. You could theoretically do the terrain first (in ZH worldbuilder, lol)

Aww bummer yea the tool appears to be technically working but it doesn't affect the terrain in any way.

Anyways i tried your method of importing the map with bare terrain it does work however the ZH editor has that stupid height limit that cuts off and flattens the terrain that reaches that limit (RA3 and KW worldbuilders don't have that you can go nuts with the verticality) I can for example forget about making a huge Pyramid or other huge custom mesh in center of the Kane's Wrath map with this method.

But well thats still better than nothing ^^

Nvm I think diagonal box will zigzagged too with this tool.. Anyways your pyramid works but if you add the default models it doesn't work.. I think there's a limit .. Still I confirm that adding custom shapes is possible nice work.. I love mixery

What do you mean? Both the default models along with the custom pyramid work fine for me. Can add them no problem.

Please make a picture of the box you are talking about.

Maybe our defintions of a "box" differ, but I understand it as a rectangular mountain shape. And a rectangular mountain shape will have perfect edges if the shape is rotated 0 or 45° (which would, by my defition, be a diagional box). Everything in between will be zig-zagged.
