So I have used the command line -forcebenchmark using command and conquer generals, on many computers before to generate a benchmark file I could use to speed up command and conquer generals: zero hour, a few of the computers it didn't work on. It would just crash (generals.exe is not responding, not the EA error that says caused by a virus overheat, etc) instead of going to the menu and generating a benchmark file like it is supposed to. Unfortunately my new computer is suffering from this issue. I cannot generate a benchmark file on my computer because of the crashes. I can run the game just fine without using -forcebenchmark. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or more importantly, found a solution to it?
Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 8GB DDR4 RAM
Windows 10
4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
Here is the error code (I'm not sure if it is useful at all) It always says Exception is access violation and WinMain at 4017d0:
Release Crash at (null); Reason Uncaught Exception during initialization.
Last error:
Exception is access violation
WinMain at 4017d0
Error code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Description: The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
Access address:000E9FB8 was read from.
